selly Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Hello,I need a strategy to book a hotel in NY from 6/2/10-6/6/10.We prefer a 4* hotel, but a 3*/3.5* in a good district is also finFor a 4* hotel max 180 dollar. For a 3.5* max 150For a 3* max 125.All incl taxes. We prefer one of the following districts: TS, ESM, MSG. (but chelsea MTW/MTE are also fine)It's our first time new york, so we don't exactly know where we want to stay. We think that the whole centre of manhattan is a good place to stay in a 4* hotel.Thank you, in advance, for your help
thereuare Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Did you want to first try up to your maximum bid for a 4* hotel, then if rejected try for a 3.5*, then if rejected try for a 3*?We prefer one of the following districts: TS, ESM, MSG. (but chelsea MTW/MTE are also fine)Above do you mean ESB? Also, note that there are currently no 4* hotels offered in the MSG or Chelsea zones... should we include MTE and/or MTW in a bidding strategy or not? Also, is there a reason you're not including CPS in your 4* bidding?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 We will take this one step at a time... from your post above, i think you want to include CPS in your bidding, and therefore you're willing to the MTE, MTW, ESB, CPS, and TS zones for a 4* hotel. A $180 all-in price is about a $150 maximum bid. If all of the above is correct, i'd try as follows...At the 4* level in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, and TS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. selly Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 thanks for your advice, we followed it, but it didnt' work out. Are the bids to low you think? What is the next step?
AaronJB Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Unfortunately, at this point, the bids are too low. I don't think you're far off at all, though, as HOTWIRE is showing a few Midtown 4*'s for $189 each.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Do you want to wait it out and try for a 4* again up to $150, raise your bid for a 4* or now try for a 3.5* property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. selly Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 What do you think, is it fertile to try again whit the bid-strategy above? and start a litle higher at 120.Or should we try a 3.5*? That are also good hotels I think. Then we want to go for the same districts with a max of 150 incl.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 We always suggest a bidding strategy and start low and gradually increase, but my guess for a 4* is that you'll need to increase your bidding by another $15-$20/nite... for a 3.5* i think you'll need to bid you're probably looking about $10-$15 below bids you've already made.So it really depends what you're looking for from this stay and how flexible your budget is.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
