tterryj50 Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Hi, I've never bid on Priceline so I could really use some tips from you guys. We are interested in a 4/8/05 pre-cruise stay in Fort Lauderdale. I've read where some folks have gotten good deals at the Hyatt Pier 66. What would be a good strategy at getiing booked in this hotel? Anybody have any comments on this hotel? Reviews in tripadvisor are mixed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
thereuare Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! With Priceline you can't pick the specific hotel, only the minimum star rating and geographic area according to their predifined boundary maps. If you bid for a 4* in the Beach area and are successful i believe your chances of getting the Hyatt Pier 66 are very good since it's the only known 4* hotel to be reported in this zone, but new hotels can be added/upgraded at any time so there are no guarantees that you won't be the first to report a new hotel at the 4 star rating in this area.If you're flexible enough to accept the above conditions and want to give it a try, let us know and we'll supply a bidding strategy for you to follow. You should also include the maximum amount that you are willing to bid (although we may not go that high if we feel you'll be successful at lower amounts) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tterryj50 Posted February 2, 2005 Author Report Posted February 2, 2005 I'm ready to give it a try. We would want the room 4/8/05, a 4* hotel in the area of the Hyatt Pier 66 in Ft. Laudetdale. We would be willing to go as high as $100. Help with a strategy ib greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 The Hyatt Pier 66 has been reported in the Ft. Lauderdale Beach zone.At the 4* level, you have four re-bid zones. Re-bidding is explained in PRICELINE 72 HOUR RULE... please read this link and ask any questions that you may have (and confirm your re-bid zones with the board to make you sure you have them correct).Select 4* Ft. Lauderdale Beach...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $92, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $100.Feel free to ask any questions that you may have.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. tterryj50 Posted February 15, 2005 Author Report Posted February 15, 2005 I attempted to bid on a 4* in fll beach area. I used the strategy outlined but I may have screwed up. The final bid that was rejected was $95. My hope was to get booked at Hyatt Pier 66 but now I can't bid again for 72 hrs. I've seen where others have gotten Pier 66 for $92. The date I'm looking for is one night, 4/8/05. Should I rebid in 72hrs using same strategy and prices outlined in an earlier post? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. This was my first attempt at bidding on priceline or any other site.
thereuare Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 You're not doing anything wrong, hotels release inventory to Priceline in 'batches', so my guess is that this is the reason for your non-acceptance. If the hotel has high occupancy levels for your dates, they may not release inventory at all.I would stick with the current strategy presented above, and in the meantime book yourself a fully cancellable back-up.Keep us updates as to your progress.
