krcitli Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Hi.Hubby and I just decided to head into the city for our anniversary next month. The dates would be 4/15-4/17. I'm ok with anything midtown...we'll be seeing a show. I'm torn between waiting for a good deal on travelzoo or a similar site or taking my chances on Priceline. I checked out all the 4stars in Times square and they all seem nice. I was thinking on bidding on TS and maybe ESB? The 4 stars in ESB got better reviews on traveladvisor than the 4 stars in MTE. Any tips on how to bid if I decide. Also, saw a good deal on The Roger Williams somewhere. Anyone have any input on this hotel? Sorry to be a pill, just excited to have a few days away with out the kids, lol.
AaronJB Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Happy (early) anniversary! :)Please let us know what zones you would be interested in trying to bid for. Additionally, what would your desired budget be per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
krcitli Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for the response! I think I would like TS, ESB or WTE. I would like to keep it under $200 a night, the lower the better of course, lol.4 * only. I see a deal for Hotel Mela for $199 a night, do you know anything about that hotel or the Roger Williams? TIA
thereuare Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Both the Hotel Mela and Roger Williams are nice and get very good reviews. However, i think you'll be able to do better than $199/nite if you choose to bid on PRICELINE.Let us know once you decide if you'd like to give PRICELINE a shot or go with one of the offers above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. krcitli Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. What do you think my chances are of getting a good deal on a 4* if I only shoot for TS and ESB? I'm not interested in MTW b/c I don't want the Sheraton Towers. I got that for a good price last year and whil it was a great location and a perfectly nice hotel, it's not exactly 'special' enough for my anniversary. All the 4*'s in ESB look really great and got good reviews. I guess MTE could work, those look pretty nice. Sigh....not sure what to do. Hotwire seems pretty high on my dates and if I'm going to pay $200 or more I might as well just book through travelzoo or Expedia. I'm just thinking out loud. I appreciate your knowledge on this. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I would pick a figure that you'd be happy with saving to compenstate for the 'unknown' factor... so let's say it's $50, you could then bid up to $150 (your $200 alternate less the $50 savings = $150) and bid up to that amount. If you decide to bid, let us know which zone(s) you decide upon and the amount of your maximum bid, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. krcitli Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 Hi. I'm seeing 2 hotels in Time Square for 4/15/-4/17. First is 3 1/2 stars..listed as Boutique, Complimentary breakfast,Restaurant, High speed internet. I'm not finding a match? The other is 3 star in TS...listed as boutique, Fitness, restaurant, Business center and high speed internet,Any ideas? TIA
AaronJB Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Please keep all discussion of this trip within this thread.I'm guessing the 3* is the Paramount. The 3.5* has not yet been ID'd - I'm guessing it may either be the Roommate Grace w/o the previously reported spa icon or possibly Night. Those would be guesses, though. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
krcitli Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 I'm sorry. I thought I should keep Priceline and Hotwire seperate. Thanks for the info. I'll check those hotels out :)
