kerner Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I'm looking to book a room in the Loop area for a conference [official hotel is the W] that's at the Opera House.Searching by the address (20 N Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606 ) I get:$69 - 3.5* Chicago Loop area hotel (0.0 - 0.7 miles from your location)Amenities: Fitness Center, High Speed Internet$149.17 - 4* Chicago Loop area hotel (0.0 - 0.7 miles from your location)Amenities: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet$124 - 3* Chicago Loop area hotel (0.0 - 0.7 miles from your location)Amenities: Free Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business Center, Laundry, High Speed InternetAfter searching through the forums I'm guessing that the 3.5* is Club Quarters, but I haven't figured out the others.Tips?
thereuare Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Agree with your guess of the 3.5* being the Club Quarters. The 4* is the Hotel Allegro (it's not "opaque"... if you run this search again at HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering you'll see the same of the hotel)The 3* matches previous reports for the La Quinta Inn and Suites so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know which you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 If you want to be really close to the Opera House, the Allegro or Club Quarters are fine choices, but I will note that this part of the Loop is very quiet at night. The Allegro would be probably the closest hotel to the Opera House, but the Club Quarters is also very close. The other Loop property that I'd really recommend is the Standard Club, which is $143.75 on Orbitz, and coupon code FABSAVE10 takes 10% off = $129.38. That's a gorgeous, historic and upscale private club rated 4* on Orbitz. They rent a small set of rooms. The Club was originated in the 1800's (and has been at the current location since the 1920's.)The Allegro is $149.75 on Expedia, and coupon code 10WINTER takes $10 off per night. If you would rather be in an area that has more going on at night, the newer Hotel Felix in the River North area is $79 on sale per night on Expedia, and coupon code 10WINTER takes $10 off. That would be a trek or a short cab ride to the Opera House, but would be close to a lot of restaurants in the River North area, as well as the Michigan Ave. shopping area. Please use the site's Orbitz, HOTWIRE, Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kerner Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Went ahead and reserved the Hotel Felix. It looks great for the money. Thanks for the tip!
