Hotwire Hotel: 4* Toronto (Downtown East) Westin Harbour Castle

Hi there,

I have a couple questions about an offer on Hotwire. I've searched for June 19th 2010, one night, two people, one room.

The options are both $99 - Downtown Toronto West with bed choice, smoke free rooms, fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre and high speed internet access. From other postings, I am wondering if this may be a Sheraton hotel? Or the Westin? And if not, I wonder if you know what hotel it may be?

The other option is for downtown Toronto East with non smoking rooms, fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet and spa. Also listed as $99.

I am attending a concert on Centre Island that night and am hoping for a hotel that will be a short cab ride away. Not sure if East or West makes much of a difference?

I would also love to have a hotel with a hot tub!

Those more experienced can likely help more. I live in Toronto but use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE for friends visiting. The East looks like the Westin and that would be the best for Centre Island (walk to the ferry). The Kind Edward doesn't have a pool so you can rule it out. Some of the other "East" hotels are actually West of Yonge Street; don't know why they don't use Yonge for the dividing line as everyone else does. I have not seen the bed choice option before so I am curious as to who is offering this option. The Westin seems to be coming up at 85% or 90% satisfaction levels but I miss when they just used tripadvisor ratings and review #'s as you could be more certain. HOTWIRE is also usually $10 or $20 more expensive than PRICELINE but at least you can take an educated guess. I have won the Westin Harbour Castle on a lot of PRICELINE bids and it is quite nice, particularly since they completed their renovations, although a bit out of the way from downtown on harbourfront (but close to the Island!).

Thanks I truly appreciate your guess! It would be great if it's the Westin, I was at their site and it has everything I"m looking for, and as you've now informed me, close to the island. This is good to know! Not too concerned about being a bit out of the way of downtown, have some family there that may be able to drive me around if need be. This Downtown East hotel was coming up as 90% satisfaction and the Downtown West with bed option was 85%

I will wait to see if the moderator replies and will post when I have this figured out and have bidded.

I was thinking of using Hotwire, though I've used Priceline to get a deal at the Sheraton here in Montreal, there was no guesswork. I am a bit weary of Priceline bidding since I'm sure what hotel options they would offer, and it seems you can't choose the location? I also really wanted to make sure there would be a hot tub. Thanks again!

The 4* Downtown East property matches previous reports for the Westin Harbour Castle so that would be my best guess for this one.

For the Downtown West property i'm not seeing a hotel with the amenities above offered on a search for your dates... are you still seeing this on your own HOTWIRE search?

Yes it's the first thing that comes up actually if you search Toronto Hotels June 19-20 on Hotwire. Both prices have dropped today. The toronto west is $96 and the Toronto East is $95. I think I will go with the Toronto East if it's the Westin Harbour Castle. Looks great. Thanks so much for your help! I will be bidding on it today and let you know.

Thanks again for your help, especially with telling me how close it is to the island. I really appreciated this and it made me feel more confident going into this mysterious situation of picking a hotel without knowing the name first.
