monkeybars8 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 We are heading to St. Louis for a few days w/our kids over Spring Break. As a PRICELINE and HOTWIRE "newbie," I found this site to be very helpful! Using the link on this site, we bid on a 4* downtown St. Louis hotel and got the Hyatt at the Arch on the first try for $42 (hmmmm...maybe we overbid!?).I contacted the hotel and requested a N/S room and 2 beds; they felt both requests could easily be honored. I also asked about parking options, as folks on this forum said the rates were high. The Hyatt said $18 for self-park, $25 for valet. When I asked for cheaper options, they said there is parking about a block north (Mason) that is $8 (mid-week).We still need to book 2 more nights. We're open to "hotel hopping" and love the ease and deals of PRICELINE after our first success! We're spending the 2nd day in Forest Park seeing the zoo & museums, so I think we'll try for a Clayton area hotel. All the 3* hotels seem fine. Any tips re starting bids/strategy? I'm thinking $32- $33.Our 3rd night we're considering Chesterfield, West Port, or maybe St. Charles...someplace closer to The Magic House, and possibly St. Charles for shopping. Any suggestions appreciated!
