made a successful bid for 3* hotel in san diego for $46 a night at the holiday inn on the bay when searching for a hotel in the downtown harbor island location. seems like a good deal to me although parking is not included and is $22 a night dates are from 3/15-3/21

normal rates for this hotel start around $125 a nite i think

I'm not sure how the parking rates in san diego are is $22 a nite a steep rate or average? I don't think i'll be using my car a whole bunch is there anywhere within a couple of miles that I could park it at for less?

Congratulations on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

$22 per night is likely around average for San Diego. Chicago properties are as much as $40-50. Hopefully a local user can offer suggestions on nearby alternate parking options.

Great deal on this Holiday Inn property! Regarding your question about the $22 per day parking, this is a typical rate for San Diego.

Since you won't be needing your car much, my suggestion would be to Google "San Diego Airport Parking" and/or "San Diego Cruise Ship Parking" because there are airport/cruise ship parking lots fairly close to your hotel that charge between $8 and $12 per day. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think the Holiday Inn has a shuttle that will take you to area attractions.

Hope that helps and have a great trip!

thx for the tip! any idea if any of those places offer in and out privileges? we plan on using the hotel shuttle and public transport to get around but may end up using the car if we end up being too dumb to figure out the public transport routes and schedules. i tried looking on some websites for those places but they don't say anything about in and out privileges so i'm guessing its more of a place to just leave the car for a period of time rather than a in and out parking garage, but i may give em a call anyway just to check.

cheers,

Sambo

I'm not sure about in and out privileges but if you call the lots directly they should be able to tell you their policies. Your hotel is also real close to the train station where I think you can transfer to the trolley and/or buses so you are ideally suited for public transportation. Have fun!

just got back from my trip the hotel was great and very clean. the hotel is made up of 3 buildings we stayed in the main one up on the 5th floor with a balcony it was really good especially for the low price paid. as for the parking we ending up not paying for parking there was street parking available a couple of blocks down from the hotel which we used (this parking fills up during the day and is a bit easier to find a spot at night we used the car during the day to get around and did street parking at night) and if we had to pop in for a quick nap during the day we just used the meter parking out front for about $1.25 an hour the hotel also has a free 20min parking in front just in case we needed to get anything or come back and change before going out for dinner or something. hope this helps someone
