Priceline Hotel: 3.5* - 2* in NYC - March 27th to April 1st

So I'm looking for a hotel, my trip to NYC is in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I'm a student on a budget. I'm looking for a hotel under $70 a night in the Manhattan area -- around MSG, Empire State, Time Square, etc. Is that at all possible, or are my expectations impossible?

I've never used Priceline before.

Your budget is probably unrealistic, but as we don't see many very low rated hotels (2* and 2.5*) reported to the board there may be something out there available and you may get lucky. We don't see many of the lower rated hotels won as we typically don't encourage users to bid at that level... while there may be some 2*/2.5* hotels you're fine at staying in, there may be others which you are not, and with PRICELINE you can't choose which type you will get. As well, the 'value' (substantial discount to conventionally booked rated) is generally found at the higher rated hotels (3* and above)

If you let us know exactly which zone(s) you're willing to accept we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I'm not very picky about the location. I just don't prefer Long Island or Brooklyn. Anything closer to the Times Square/MSG area would be ideal. But at this point, I'm not very picky... just looking for the best deal.

Select 3* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3* UES...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3* UWS...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, UES...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3* UES and UWS...

Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, UES and UWS...

Bid $70

If the above is rejected i'd start over and go thru the cycle again at the 2.5* level.

If that is rejected we'll discuss bidding the 2* level, which i don't necessarily recommend.
