mbuckingham Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 Thanks. Also any tips to help ensure we get 2 beds instead of 1?
AaronJB Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Let me take a look to see what options are available for these dates. Be back in a few minutes.
AaronJB Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 The 4.5* is possibly the Intercontinental, James or Conrad. The 4* Loop is likely the Palmer House. The 4* NMA could possibly be the Allerton, Westin Michigan Ave, Knickerbocker or Drake. The 4* Streeterville is possibly the Sax or Felix (although I'm guessing the Felix may be more likely.)Searching for 2 on HOTWIRE would not guarantee 2 beds, although you could request it from the hotel. Searching for more than 2 will guarantee some form of bedding for the amount of people searched for (2 beds or 1 + sofa.) However, searching for more than 2 often does bring up mildly more expensive prices and/or different options. That said...When you search for 2 people on Expedia for these dates, the James is $113.23 on sale. Coupon code 10WINTER takes $10 off = $103.23 for a room w/2 beds. The Felix is $109.25 for a room w/2 beds (and coupon code 10WINTER would take it to $99.25) The Intercontinental is $101.16 after a the coupon code for a room with one or two beds. So, you do have a few different options - you could risk one bed via HOTWIRE for a lower price, but you could also book regular rate and select 2 beds at some of these properties for not too much more.______________________________________________________________________Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia.com links to start your purchases and searches.
mbuckingham Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 Wow. Thanks so much. Looks like I can get a pretty good package deal on Expedia too if I stay at the Chicago Inn. (air for 2 plus 3 nights for $530)Have you stayed at any of these? I'd prefer a higher level room (just a weird quirk) but all of these look nice (well, Intercontinental looks a bit more buttoned up than we normally like).
AaronJB Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I'd suggest not staying at the Inn of Chicago; it's an older former Best Western.Personally, I think the James for $103 after coupon is a fantastic deal, and that would allow you to choose bedding. The Sutton Place for $105 on Expedia (after 10WINTER coupon) for 2 beds is another terrific deal.If you are looking for a more basic (but still very nice) place just to sleep, when I search for 1 adult and 2 children on HOTWIRE, I see a 3.5* in the Mag Mile (pool, restaurant, business, internet) area for $63, which would likely be the Doubletree. Very nice hotel, great location. Some rooms at that Doubletree property do have decent views of the surrounding area. However, in terms of upgrades, PRICELINE/HOTWIRE reservations are not eligible.Thank you for using the site's Expedia, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
mbuckingham Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 Sad to say but my son couldn't get the time of work, so the trip is postponed...but we'll be back!
