Priceline Hotel: 3.5* or 4* in NYC, 7/2/10-7/6/10

Hi all!

I need to make a booking for hotel in NYC. I have seen some of the successful bids in the threads, for 3.5* and 4* in MTE, MSG and Chelsea, with prices around US$ 100, which is my budget. But checking on HOTWIRE I don't find any similar rate.

What do you recommend me? The rate differences are because july is peak season? Should I wait for a couple of months to place the bids?

Prices vary by date; the rates that you're seeing on the board are largely around this time period, which is going to be slower than the 4th of July holiday.

What would be your desired budget per night, and what zones are you interested in bidding on?

July is actually low 'season' for NYC.

Where the $100 'wins' you saw via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE... as there are currently no 4* hotels in the MSG or MTE zones.

Actually I haven't tried to bid yet, as this would be my first time using PRICELINE and I want to be as informed as possible, to make things right.

Taking into consideration that I don't plan to spend more than US$ 100 per night, which approach do you recommend me to follow? I'm looking for a good value hotel between 3* to 4*.

Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel or is your goal the least expensive 3* or better? At each star level, which zone(s) are you willing to accept?

Are you willing to lock in a non-refundable reservation now?
