Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Chicago (Airport OHare ORD North) Marriott OHare

"Won" a bid for the O'Hare Marriott for $45, a night. Upon arrival at the hotel, was informed that there was a $24 daily parking fee. Turned around, walked out, and now have to file consumer complaints against Priceline and Marriott and force Priceline to reverse the charges, or they can answer to a judge in Small Claims Court.

Priceline is running a scam. When parking is left out of the quote and constitutes over 50% of the room rate, you're running an illegal operation, and the State needs to put a stop to you. This hotel is out in the suburbs, not in Midtown Manhattan. Parking fees should be included in Priceline's quoted cost. Priceline and Marriott need to face severe sanctions from the State of Illinois for this scam, and a class action lawsuit is certainly deserved. We'll see what we can do to get the State's Attorney to look into criminal charges against both companies.

Sorry to hear you're upset with the result. Parking is definitely high in general at Chicago properties both downtown and at ORD - many hotels are $40-50 downtown per night for parking and $15-25 is not uncommon by the airports.

How would you feel if you paid full rack rate for this property?

When bidding in any major airport zone it is uncommon to find free parking. I have been in a similar situation several times so I avoid bidding in airport zones.

Before you spend time and energy in persuit of legal relief, read PRICELINE's terms and conditions. PRICELINE advises that the hotel may have additional charges, so chalk it up to experience, remain on the positive and think about how much you saved compared to a conventional booking.

It wouldn't make sense to include the parking charges in the bid price since some guests won't be using this service from the hotel... or should hotel guests who don't have a car pay for a parking service they won't be using?

You agreed to PRICELINE's terms and conditions when you placed the bid, if you weren't comfortable with the 'unknown' parking charge, then you should have booked a hotel thru a non-opaque source.

Once you left the hotel, where did you end up staying? (and for how much?)

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

I knew there would be some fool who would excuse a complete scamball tactic. As for "airport zone," if you draw a 10 mile radius around the two airports, almost all of Chicago metro is an "airport zone," so skip the nebulous term. You really have no clue about Chicago. Do you know just how far the O'Hare Marriott is from O'Hare? The O'Hare Marriott never had pay parking, and it's shocking to see that it does, thus the empty hotel. The hotel just across the Kennedy never had pay parking, and it still doesn't. Outside of New York, it's rare to see a hotel off airport property have pay parking.

Priceline is looking at a huge lawsuit over this. Leaving a massive percentage of the room rate undisclosed is not a fully formed contract.

Parking at Hyatt Regency O'Hare: $25/night (or $28 valet)

Parking at O'Hare Hilton: $45/night.

Parking at O'Hare Intercontinental: $22/night.

Parking at Marriott O'Hare, $24, listed on the front page of their site.

Sorry, this thread doesn't really deserve to be continued, but in case other BB readers are thinking of driving and staying at an O'Hare hotel I thought they'd like to know what kinds of fees they should expect.
