Our objective: 14 nights in Maui. Wailea, Kihei, Makena areas are the

best.

Dates : 2-15 to 3-1-05 (14 nights). We already purchased RT tickets for

these dates. (2 people), just one room is needed.

Does Priceline deal in Condos in that area as well?

What are 5* and 4* hotels in the area, and what would be the best bidding

strategy as to the

zones adding, and re-bidding; also what are the most recent successful

bids

for hotels in these zones?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Mahalo nui,

Jerry.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Are you looking for one hotel for your complete stay or are you looking to stay at two or more property over the course of your trip?

Priceline doesn't deal with condo properties, although HOTWIRE often lists condo properties within their searches.

You can see hotels won in each zone by looking at our hotel lists, this one for PRICELINE and this one for HOTWIRE.

Previousl winning bids are also broken down by service used, with THESE for Priceline and THESE for Hotwire.

Re-bid zones depend upon the star rating you bid, and determining your re-bid zones is explained in this thread: PRICELINE BIDDING EXPLAINED. If you're new to re-bidding we encourage you to read this thread and ask any questions that you have.

That should be enough to get you started. Let us know if you're looking for a continuous stay or different hotels and an idea of your budget and we'll advise accordingly.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

A good place to see what's available is to look on priceline's "packages" feature which, unlike an opaque hotel bid, allows you to see what properties priceline has available on those nights without any committment to buy. What you do is put in a "dummy" departure airport (I'd recommend HNL) and see what properties pop up. If you subtract the per person cost of the airfare (usually around $180) you can get an approximation of what you'll have to pay for the "hotel only" portion (you also want to become VERY familiar with the bidding procedure if you're a novice priceline user, and review the hotel-only prices posted here by successful hotel bidders). You also want to keep in mind that you will generally only get the cheapest hotel in the priceline star category/zone that pops up on the packages search if you do a "hotel only" bid.

BTW, because you are staying for so many nights, you'll want to play with that packages feature a bit to see what's available for any given day. It is quite possible that to get the best deal you'll have to move around a bit, as most Hawaiian hotels will have some "no priceline days" during this winter high season.

Once you narrow down your preferences, you'll find folks here happy to help you make a successful (and cheap) bid.
