tennisgirl Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I will be traveling to New York City with 4 other ladies. We would like to stay in MTW or TS (maybe MTE). We would prefer a 4* or possibly a 3.5* hotel with a price of $120-$150/night. We will be there 5/29 - 6/1. I have not been successful in bidding so far (Priceline, following tips for bidding in different areas w/o a 4*). I have increased my bid to $135 and have had no luck. If you can give me any tips, I would be very appreciative. We will be celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The issue with PRICELINE would be that it does not guarantee 2 beds (it only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed.) How many rooms do you need? Is your budget $150 + taxes/fees or $150 "all-in" (with fees/taxes)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tennisgirl Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 I could go with $150 not including taxes. I thought if I win a bid, I would call the hotel and see if we could get 1 room with 2 beds. If not, we'll just pack a sleeping bag and someone can sleep on the floor. Or check into getting a rollaway bed.
thereuare Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Are you bidding for one room or two? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thereuare Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 I assume your $135/nite bids thus far have only included MTW and TS? Did you want to continue bidding only these two zones up to $150 before considering adding MTE to the mix? Is there a reason you're not also including including CPS in your bidding as this also work out well for the typical visitor at the 4* level (although if you lower to 3.5* you may not want to include this zone since at that level this zone contains some properties with very small rooms)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tennisgirl Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 I have been only bidding on MTW and TS so far, but I could add CPS. I did not realize that location would be just as convenient to everything. I would also consider adding MTE if you think those 4* would be within walking distance to most tourist areas.
AaronJB Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 The reported/known 4*'s in MTE are well-located, although there are a couple of 3.5* properties (such as the Millennium UN) that are not as conveniently located and are further E in MTE.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 I do think that at the 4* level CPS and MTE would work just as well for the average visitor. However, keep in mind that it's NYC and the 'tourist areas' are spread throughout the city, so you'll likely be taking the subway/bus at some time another, regardless of which zone you stay in.So to proceed, do you want to first try resuming your bidding for just the MTW and TS zones at higher bid amounts up to your limit... or incorporate these new zones into your bidding at a lower bid amounts than you have already bid?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tennisgirl Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 I think I would like to incorporate the new zones (CPS and MTE) at the 4* level at the lower bid prices.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 At the 4* level in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones.
