penny pincher Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I am looking for 3 airline tickets memorial day weekend and I tried to bids on PRICELINE and both were turned down. Im wandering if I should wait until it gets closer or if my bids are too low.I am looking at STL to MSP. Currently they offer $139 with fees for each ticket. I bid $69 and $75 with fees and was still turned down.thank in advance

thereuare Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 What is the breakdown of base fare and taxes/fees for this ticket? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. penny pincher Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 Now it says $224 and $245 with fees.If I bid a price they add $39.55 per ticket for taxes and fee's.So I tried $20 and $25 plus the $39.55 taxes and fee's on each ticket.not sure why the price went up.
thereuare Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Based upon the current ticket quote the base fare is ~$180/ticket... so you won't be successful with a $20 bid.Even using the previous ticket price of $139, base fare is ~$100... making your $20 bid an 80% discount to the base fare for that ticket... again, not a high probability bet.Are current rates still at $200+Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
