Priceline Hotel: 4* Dallas (Galleria-North) Le Meridien

Okay... file this under FWIW. But I had recently got a winning PL bid for a 4* Le Meridien Hotel in the Dallas Galleria area.

I've stayed at this hotel many times... back when it was a Hilton Garden Suites then Pravda and now it's Le Meridien.

Overall I've been pleased with this hotel under its different names. My winning bids have always been $50 or less per night.

What I'm disappointed in learning about is the new parking fees.... $20 per night. In the past it was $10 then $12...then $18 and now it's $20. Sure they have limited parking but I suppose it's just reached my threshold. Look this hotel.. a 4 star.. nope...maybe a glorified 3 star or 3.5 star maybe. But 4 star...uh-uh... nope.

So here's my beef. Even the Westin Galleria ( a 4 star definitely) has parking options...free self-serve or valet. I've paid $20 parking fees before but honestly..this is just a bit much considering the hotel. In fact.. there are many quality 3* hotels in the same Dallas Galleria zone that provide free parking... like 3* Sheraton N. Dallas at LBJ & Tollway... or how about the 4* Intercontinental on the tollway.. ahem ....parking is free there. Geez... this is a rip.

I've booked 3 nights at Le Meridien... so I'm out $60 in parking. :) I looked around and didn't see a mention

of the $20 parking fee... had I known, I'd have bid on less than 4 stars cuz I know the area pretty well.

Call me cheap, tight-wad...whatever... but I tell ya one thing.. compared to the other 4 stars in this zone....Le Meridien shouldn't be one of them. I'm ticked. Next time, I'll forgo bidding on a 4 star in the Dallas Galleria zone and stick with the 3 to 3.5* instead. Much, much better value anyways... free parking and won't have this disappointment again.

4* ( more like 3 or 3.5*) Le Meridien / Dallas Galleria - 3/25-28/2010 3 nights

Total Charges: $163.74

Additional Charges: $60 ( $20 per night parking fee...no free parking anywhere.)

TOTAL NET CHARGES: $223.74 or $74.58 per night. Better values can be found at Sheraton N. Dallas, Intercontinental or Crowne Plaza.

( FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Park Central is just down LBJ by less than 5 minutes to Galleria and better value options are there, i.e Crowne Plaza Suites

which is similar to Le Meridien in style albeit smaller. It's a 3.5* I believe and can be had on PL for around $45 in most cases...no parking fee

either. Also...there's a Westin in Park Central that's a good value too.)
