Priceline Hotel: 3.5* or better in NYC Apr 24 - 28, Suggestions?

I will be in NYC for 4 nights from April 24 - 28. This is my first time going to NYC and could use some tips/suggestions for a bidding strategy and also which bidding areas would be best from a tourist standpoint. We would like to be close to the subway and if possible tourist attractions.

I would like something under $130/night taxes in if possible. We are somewhat flexible on price, if we can get something a little nicer we can go higher.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

I have had great success on priceline with 3.5 to 4 star hotels. Start out with the minimum criteria when bidding ( 4 star and only one area) start low ($60-$65) and gradually increase your bid (I do 4-7 dollar imcrements) as you get rejected. I start with Times Square area and then bid #2 Central Park South # 3 Midtown West #4 Midtown east as a last resort I lower to 3.5 star but I've only had to do that once. Those areas will keep you in the heart of things. The most I have ever paid was $125 for the Grand Hyatt Midtown East which is a great location for subway riders. I've also gotten the Intercontinental Barclay and The Roosevelt. Always have had success. I do devote some time to this and if I don't win my hotel I keep trying every 24 hours. Do not give up. There are so many hotel choices in NY that you do not have to pay top $$. Good Luck

Welcome to BetterBidding!

A $130 all-in win is just under a $110 bid price. At the 3.5* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG, and ESB all generally work well for the average visitor with the following caveat(s):

In the 3.5* level in MTE zone is the Millenium UN which is about a 15 minute walk to the subway, which is fine for some and too far for others. If you think this would be too far for your comfort level than i wouldn't include this zone in your bidding. Likewise, in the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel, which is very 'cool' hotel, but has notoriously small rooms. Again, for some they view the room just as place to sleep and they're happy being in a hotel with a good 'vibe'... for others it's too small for comfort.

Let us know which zones you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I think the following zones all sound like a good option for us: MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, and ESB

We'll leave MTE as the last option for bidding to save the extra 15 minute walk to the subway if possible.

Thanks!

Please confirm the zones... it appears you don't want to include MTE at this point, but what about CPS? (is that what you meant to type in the first list of zones?)

The zones that I would like to consider are: MTW, TS, MSG, ESB and MTE

I have included MTE but I would like that to be the last area to consider, if possible i'd like to be closer to the subway but I will still consider MTE but after the other areas.

CPS was excluded intentionally to avoid the Hudson Hotel you mentioned.

Thanks!

At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3.5* MTW, TS, MSG...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* ESB...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* MTW, TS, MSG and ESB...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

If the above is rejected close the browser and repeat the bids above, adding the MTE zone to each cycle.

Any questions feel free to ask.
