meyergirl32 Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Very very new at this entire priceline bidding stuff!!! I need assistance on bidding on a hotel in the downtown asheville area. My stay is on June 21, 2010 checking out on June 22nd. I bid $70 on a 4 star in the out lying area that didn't offer 4 stars and was rejected. Not sure why I was rejected!!! ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!
AaronJB Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)If your bid is not high enough for what you have bid for on your particular dates then it will not be accepted. What zones have you bid for so far, and what is your desired budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
meyergirl32 Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 Thank you for the reply!! I bid for the downtown-biltmore area and the biltmore mall area. My budget would be $70 a night. Would REALLY like to pay that and nothing more. Is that even possible? :) Thanks so much for your help!
thereuare Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 There are no 4* hotels in the Biltmore Mall area, so you're really just bidding on the Downtown-Biltmore Estate zone. The only 4* hotel reported in this zone is the Grand Bohemian, and each time it has been reported to the board it has been at $100+, so while you can try, i would say your chances are low (although there could always be another hotel we don't yet know about in the zone willing to accept your sub-$100 bid) Furthermore, searching the Grand Bohemian website for your dates they're currently showing no availability for your nite above, so this likely diminished your chances of success as well.Do you have a back-up plan? Do you have to have a 4* hotel for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. meyergirl32 Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 Oh ok that makes much better sense!!! I do have a back up and would love to stay anywhere really in that area but don't want to go below 3*. I just thought I'd give the 4* a shot at a cheaper price. I will keep trying. I don't leave until June.
thereuare Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Do you want to bid for a 3.5* at this point in time or are you looking for the lowest priced 3* or better for this stay?If you'd like help with a bidding strategy let us know which star rating you'd like to try for first and your maximum bid (if different than $70) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
