boer_ioi Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I am looking for a hotel on strip, las vegas. I never used PRICELINE to bid a hotel before. I just tried to bid a 5 star hotel on strip north. I put $30 and it accept. is this too good to be true? 5 Star Luxury Hotel, Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North Area Check-In Date: Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 Region: Las Vegas, NV City Area: Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North Check-In Time: Guaranteed late night arrival Check-Out Time: Check-out times vary by hotel Room 1: XXXX XXXX Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 7 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $30.00 Travel Insurance: $35.00 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $36.19 Total Charges*: $246.19
nic01002 Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 After giving Priceline your credit card info did you push submit? Your offer is not accepted till you do this. If you were accepted you would know what hotel you are staying at. You can put any dollar amount on that first screen were you choose the area and star rating but do not find out if it is accpeted till you give that all important credit card info and push submit. My guess is that at $30 for a 5 star you would not be accepted it should be closer to $70 at least.
boer_ioi Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 thank you for your reply. This is the first time I use PRICELINE so I entered the price from $20, it told me that the price was too low they couldn't find a hotel for me. Then I increased the price till $30, they gave me the information. it looks like the system accepted $30 for a 5 star.
thereuare Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!nic01002, has it right. You're looking at a "review the details of your bid before you submit it" screen. At this point in the process PRICELINE hasn't checked any inventory and doesn't know if your bid will be accepted or not, they're simply having you check the details of the info you entered. If you'd like help with a bidding strategy for this stay let us know if this is the only zone you're willing to accept and your maximum bid for a 5* hotel and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. boer_ioi Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 i would like to book a 4* and above hotel on strip, check in Mar.30 and check out April 6. date is very strict as I already booked the ticket. the hotel is better in the center of strip or I can stay 3 days in north strip and other 4 days in South strip or the other way. By checking Expedia, I saw some hotel charge resort fee but some don't. Paris las vegas doesn't have resort fee and the price on Expedia is $80. So I am thinking the price below $80 for a 4* should be good. Is that right? I don't have any experience. Please help and I appreciate it.
thereuare Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Would the Trump be an acceptable outcome... it's a 5* hotel in PRICELINE's strip zone, but it's located slightly off the strip? What about the Westin... 4* rated in the strip zone but slightly off the strip.Let us know and we'll be in a better position to advise. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.Regarding the HOTWIRE hotels above, if you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all " link on top of the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above?Given the deal for the MGM/Paris deal above, are you wiling to spend $104 (plus $15/nite resort fee) for the condo property and/or $150/nite for the hotel?
