anhnold Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Priceline bidding is new to me so I'm seeking your advice! Please help!dates: 4/23-/4/27star rating: 3.5-4.5*areas (from 1st choice to last): 1.MW2.TS3.CPS 4.MEPrice: the best deal possible. Hopefully under $125/night.
thereuare Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Few questions in order to suggest a strategy for you...Is price more important than zone? For example, are you willing to pay more for a hotel in the MTW zone vs. the CPS zone OR is the least expensive property in any of the zones above what you're seeking for this stay? Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel or is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better?Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. anhnold Posted March 2, 2010 Author Report Posted March 2, 2010 Just the least expensive property in any of the zones...and the least expensive of anything that is 3.5* are better.
thereuare Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* MTW and TS and CPS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and TS and CPS and MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. anhnold Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Posted April 16, 2010 Would like to stay in MTW, MTE, TIMES SQ, CPS. Should i bid this whole entire stay or split them up in two? From previous post Sun-Tues have rates even under 100!Also would like to stay below 160/night, if possible. Would like to get at least a 3 1/2* or 4*
thereuare Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.Have you tried the bid strategy previously posted above? If so, when was the last time you tried biddding? As per your post in this Priceline NYC thread you have already tried SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID... how high did you go for just the Sun-Tues stay? How much would you need to save to make splitting the stay and changing hotels worthwhile? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. anhnold Posted April 17, 2010 Author Report Posted April 17, 2010 Oops! Sorry!I couldn't find my last posting. I have bid all this week (and last) all the way up to 150 and have not got accepted. So since I've seen a previous post for a sun-tue for $85, I've tried that and have not been accepted either and have bid up to 107/night. It wouldnt be that big of a deal if i had to split my stay. I'm not sure why I cant get at the least that sunday-tuesday deal for under 100 as previous people have. What would you suggest? Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 I'm not sure why I cant get at the least that sunday-tuesday deal for under 100 as previous people have.Although posted in the last day or two, we don't know when that bid was actually won. As well, it's possible that the hotel only offered a few rooms to HOTWIRE at that rate and they are now no longer available. Were your $150 bids at the 4* or 3.5* level? How much would you need to save per nite to make changing hotels worthwhile (or is any savings at all make it worthwhile to you)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. anhnold Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 if i am able to get below 125/night for at least a 3 1/2* it would be worth it for me to split.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I would loop thru the strategy above, trying for the following date combinations:4/23-/4/274/24-/4/274/23-/4/264/25-/4/274/23-/4/25Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
