rkwells Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 2 1/2* Cocoa Beach - Cape Canaveral area HotelAmmenities listed on Hotwire for this Hotel:BeachfrontFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Laundry FacilitiesTennis NearbyWe are still gathering reviews for this property$52This hotel is the International Palms Resort on Cocoa Beach (Formerly Holiday Inn Oceanfront, Cocoa Beach Florida, was purchased by International Palms in December 2009) Reservation is for 1 night check-in Sat, Mar 20, 2010. $52/night, with taxes comes to $64.68. We are staying this one night before we leave on a cruise from Port Canaveral. They do have a Sleep, Park and Cruise. The parking is free but the shuttle is $10PP. so would be $40 for a family of 4. By comparison parking at the port would be $60 total at the port, so not much savings there. They do have tennis courts on site, and shuffle board along with a video game room. We stay here because we LOVE the locations' easy access to the beach. This hotel has a rental counter where you walk out to the beach, you can do daily/hourly rental of boogie boards and other items. There are plenty of options to keep kids busy having fun.We have stayed at this Hotel multiple times and very much enjoy it. You get what you pay for at $52 a night, but it's RIGHT ON THE BEACH. It has a very "old school" beachy feel to it...looks "weather worn".Expect an aging hotel, absolutely nothing upscale about the rooms-we find them clean enough, but not spotless. Access to the rooms is "motel style" you enter from the outside. Because of this the rooms take a lot of wear and tear with sand/moisture constantly being tracked in. I like being able to walk in and out of our room at ground level without going through a lobby to get to the pool, beach or food. It just feels REALLY laid back and relaxed...this is what our family enjoys most about this property. We have found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Our family has a lot of fun here, there is a 2 story deck overlooking the ocean. They serve drinks and food (I like the caribbean style bar food they serve) on the deck, and also have entertainment out there at times. They have a decent pool with a poolside bar that serves drinks and snacks (the snacks and sandwiches we have purchsed there were good). Our kids are no longer young but if you have preschoolers they have a really cute pirate theamed kids play area. They also have an indoor sitdown restaurant that is overpriced and the food is mediocre at best. We generally don't eat at the sit down unless we decide to do their breakfast buffet. There is plenty of fast food and a Denny"s nearby. I think they also have a small indoor sports bar but since we tend to spend all our time outdoors we have never checked it outHopefully, any changes the new owners make will be for the better.
