rodrigodiez Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I am going to be in New York from Monday 28th June for 8 nights. I am looking for a 3 to 4 star hotel in an area good for a first time NYC tourist (MTE, MTW, CPS, TS or ESB would be ok?). I have a moderate budget, say $100 (taxes and fees included), but at the same time I would like something nice, since this is my honeymoon travel... Should I beggin bidding now, or is it better to wait? Thanks!!Rodrigo.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't think your budget is going to be enough for a 3* or higher hotel in Manhattan... $100 'all-in' is about a maximum bid of $83/nite, and this doesn't seem likely for an 8 nite stay at a 3* or better property. Therefore i'd begin bidding now as if you are successful, i don't see much risk that you'd find the hotel you won much lower down the road. Before bidding, two questions...1) MTE is a 'good' zone at the 4* level, but at the 3.5* level the Millenium UN comes into play, which is a very nice hotel, but a bit far east for some as it's about a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be an acceptable outcome?2) is there a reason you're not including MSG or Chelsea in your acceptable zones? These usually are fairly convenient for the typical visitor and with your budget near the low end of the range, i think adding as many zones as possible would increase your chances. If for some reason you don't prefer these other zones we can bid without them at first and choose to add them later on, but not sure if you were trying to avoid this area or perhaps just didn't consider it.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. rodrigodiez Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 I will be visiting NYC for the first time from June 28 to July 6.My maximum bid would be $125.Star rating: 3,5* - 4*Zones: CPS, MTW, MTE, TS.Do you think it's possible to get a deal like this? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Please don't doublepost... keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.A 4* hotel within your budget is possible... did you want to try for a 4* property first or is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. rodrigodiez Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 Hi,In what star level may I get a room with a shared bathroom? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 As far as i know, i don't think you'll get a shared bath thru the "name your own price" side of PRICELINE at any star level. Even so, i wouldn't bid the very lowest star ratings... as some hotels at this star rating may be acceptable, there are some which may not be, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you don't get to choose which type you will get. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
