Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

The 3.5* Loop is likely the Club Quarters, while my guess for the 3* would be the Inn of Chicago.

Personally, I would rather recommend trying a bid for the same price ($69 per night) for a 3.5* (not sure it would be enough for a 4* during this time of year) in the River North/NMA area on PRICELINE first and see if you could get more hotel for the money via PRICELINE.

Thanks.

So you would recommend going on priceline first? To be honest I've never used PRICELINE and I'm not really 100% comfortable with their system.

Club Quarters looks fine for what I'm after - is there a chance I can get something better on PRICELINE for the same rate?

cheers!

As per the comments above, AaronJB, you might be able to get get "more hotel for your money" (or at least try to) thru PRICELINE, but if you're not comfortable using their system then it's a moot point.

What exactly is it about PRICELINE that you're not comfortable with... the process of bidding or not having any idea of what hotel it is that you might receive?

The Club Quarters Loop is fine (although the rooms are on the small side) but the location isn't entirely optimal, especially at night - there's very little going on in that area.

Overall, if you went with the CQ, that would be fine (although you may have to cab it to another area if you are going to be out at night), but I thought trying PRICELINE may get more hotel for the same money.

At the 3.5* level (although I'd recommend the 3.5* level more in the River North/NMA area - more possibilities) or 4* level, there's really not a "bad" possibility in the bunch. It's also a matter of rates - I've stayed in a few hotels in Chicago that I thought were wonderful deals for $60-70-80, but that I'd never pay $200-250 for.

Overall though, I understand not being comfortable, but if you do want to try PRICELINE, I think you may be successful for something a little more upscale for the money.

Understood. I actually gave Priceline a go in another area and found it to be pretty simple, and was successful after a little while.

I'll give it a go tonight in the areas you suggested.

thanks.

thanks for the assistance. I've been bidding around the high-70s for a 3.5* in NMA/the loop area, but have been unsuccessful.

I may try dropping this to 3*, however given the club quarters is available for $69, I may go with this. I read a few reviews of both club quarters and inn of chicago - sounds like I should give inn of chicago a miss. Club quarters had mostly positive reviews.

The Inn of Chicago is a remodeled former Best Western (and a fairly old building) that is well-located, but after the renovation/remodeling, the reviews really haven't improved that much. Great location, iffy hotel.

The Club Quarters Loop on Adams is a nice property (although rooms are small), but there's *very little* going on around that hotel at night and it's not optimally located during the day (in terms of tourism; in terms of business, it's well-located in the Loop.) Not sure what your plans are, but if you are going to be out and around a lot at night, it may be worth paying a bit more to stay in the Mag Mile area instead of cabbing it to-and-from the hotel. Just my 2 cents.
