theallens78 Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I just signed up here at the recommendation of a few friends. My husband and I will be traveling to NYC in June. We will be flying in on June 18th (or 17th..undecided yet) and leaving either the 23rd or 24th. Minimum of 2 stars, I guess. We were hoping to keep it under $150 a night if possible. As far as location: the whole reason we are flying to NYC is to see a show at Feinsteins at Lowes Regency. So I'm not sure if we should try to bid on a hotel in that area. We will be exploring the city and seeing shows as well, so we won't be spending our whole time in one specific area. I'm just lost as to trying to figure out what area to stay in. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I've never bid on anything on PRICELINE before, so all of this is completely new to me. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Personally i wouldn't choose my hotel location for a 5-7 nite stay based upon one event during my trip. Generally speaking (depending upon star rating selected) most of the midtown locations work fine for the average user. Speaking of star ratings... i'd highly recommend that you strive for a hotel higher rated than 2 stars. While there may be some 2* hotels which you'd be fine with, there may be some which are not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type you will get :)Assuming $150 is your maximum before fees and taxes, i don't think that your budget will be much of an issue. As an example, HOTWIRE has a 3.5* property for $156/nite and there are a few others at just a bit more. We can look at this property further and/or you can consider using PRICELINE in order to try to beat this rate.Would you want to try for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal still the least expensive 2* or better for this trip?Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
