JeremyM3 Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I first bid $44 for NMA using the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. That offer was rejected and priceline offered me the opportunity to rebid for $12 more. I rejected that offer and added Franklin Park as a rebid zone at $50, which I won for the Embassy Suites on State St.I was hoping for the DoubleTree others had gotten at a $53 rate, but ended up with the Embassy Suites at 600 N State St, hopefully that will be nice...Thanks for the help, I'm glad to be part of such an awesome forum!

AaronJB Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 This property is seen only infrequently as a win - it's one of two ES properties in downtown Chicago, both of which are quite nice and have been renovated in recent years. This one, however, is in the preferable location in the River North neighborhood, which has a wealth of restaurant options and is an easy walk to Michigan Ave and a pretty easy walk to the Loop. Additionally, in terms of the kitchenette in the room, there is a Jewel grocery next door (cheaper snacks.)There is also a subway station a block or so South on State/Grand. The Doubletree is a nice hotel, but this is - in my opinion - a preferable win (both in terms of location and extras - with breakfast and evening reception.)
JeremyM3 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Report Posted February 26, 2010 Thanks for the reply Aaron! I'm actually a Chicagoan myself so I'm familliar with the area. I just booked the room as a place to stay with my girlfriend after a night downtown. :)
maildude39 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I was very pleased to get a hotel like this for a winning bid of $50. It was an even greater deal when I was allowed to check in at 9am and enjoy a (complimentary) breakfast on the morning of my arrival. The hotel was great as well as the location.
