Hi,

First time using PRICELINE's name your own deal. Cant say how helpful all the information on the site was.

Had been bidding for a couple of weeks using the non-resort area (Hilo) as a re-bid. Didn't expect to get the hotel this far away from my travel days. While you can't be sure when hotels will release rooms, I think typically (at least from what I've gathered from the postings here and other websites) its generally not until 6-8 weeks beforehand. This experience has confirmed to me that you really never know though, and its worth taking 3 minutes a day to bid to make sure you get the rooms at the discounted price before they sell out.

To anyone looking at this area, from the research I've done you can probably get the Hapuna Beach for less than $90 if you're willing to wait closer to your travel dates. The Waikoloa's cut off range seems to be $90 (at least from what I've seen), so keep that in mind if you really prefer one over the other. Good luck, and thanks for the great info.
