Traveler23 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Quick question: I need two rooms in Vegas March 5-8th. When I search one room on Hotwire for 3 nights, I get a 5* Central Strip with a bed choice (the hotel is either the Venetian or Palazzo but I am leaning toward Palazzo given the prior wins). When I search two rooms for 3 nights, I get the 5* but no bed choice. Since I want two queens in each of the two rooms, does it make sense to do two simultaneous bookings of single rooms so that I can get the bed choice and then call the hotel and ask them to be next to each other? Or should I book two rooms on the same order and then call the hotel and request two queen beds per room? Any advice?Thank you! and of course I will use the HOTWIRE link on this board
thereuare Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 At the moment when i search 2rooms/4adults i'm getting the 5* hotel with Bed Choice offered. If you're not, you'll need to decide where you want to take the risk...If you purchase the one room with the Bed Choice, what if the same property doesn't appear when you go to make the second purchase? Alternately, what if you purchase the 2 rooms without the bed choice and the hotel is not able, or willing, to accommodate your request for a room with 2 beds (or charge an additional fee for such a room type... which is often the case at the Venetian and Palazzo)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Traveler23 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Report Posted February 26, 2010 Damn – you are correct, my mistake was that when I searched two rooms, I only had it for two people so it did not give me a bed choice. If I had put 4 people it would have given me the bed choice. Instead, I tried to make two simultaneous purchases in two different windows with the bed choice and it gave me one room at the Palazzo and one at the Venetian – total backfire. Now I will probably buy a 3rd room. Thanks for your advice – and I did use the HOTWIRE link on your site.
thereuare Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Sorry to hear this one didn't go as planned, here are some thoughts/comments...1) please use only one win per thread. We'll use this thread to reflect your Venetian purchase, please start a NEW TOPIC for your stay at the Palazzo. As well, please add a reply to this thread (and include in your newly created Palazzo thread) the room rate and amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.2) it's up to you as you know your needs best, but personally i wouldn't try for an additional room... the two hotels are connected via an underground passage so it should be easy enough for both groups to meet up with each other, take taxi to/from the same location, etc. If it's the bed configuration that is an issue, you can try to upgrade to a room with 2 beds at check-in (although note that when available the Venetian and Palazzo have been know to charge a fee for a 2 bedded room, but maybe you get lucky and no charge). As well, the couches at the Venetian (and i believe the Palazzo too) are pullout sofabeds, so even if you aren't able to get a room with 2 beds, would the sofabed work for your needs as a 'second bed'?Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay... let us know what you decide regarding the additional room and thanks in advance for the new topic/amenities. Traveler23 Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 Thank you for the advice - I will post the details of my wins shortly. Do you think there is any chance that HOTWIRE would consider moving one of my rooms from the Pallazzo to the Venetian or vice-verca? Given that they are at the same property and I made the same bid on the same room at the same time? Any chance? how could I approach that?
thereuare Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 I doubt it as even though they're sister properties, each property is run independent of the other. I would think you'd have a better chance speaking directly with the hotel, but again, i'd guess the chances are very low. What was the room rate so we can add this information to the topic title?
