VegasOrBust Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I am interested in bidding on the 4* North Strip, seems like TI or Mirage would be the good. The thing is the trip is with 3 others (but can sleep 2 to a bed), and I wonder if there are big extra guest charges. Also, the chances of getting 2 beds as opposed to one king is important. Anybody have experience with this?
AaronJB Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)If you are a party of 4, you will not be charged extra person fees by PRICELINE. The hotel might be able to, but it would be doubtful and I don't believe I've read a report of that happening to a PRICELINE user. However, more than two beds is not guaranteed by PRICELINE and the hotel can say no to a request to two beds. If you are a party of four, HOTWIRE would be moderately more expensive, but would be a better option in terms of getting bedding for your party, as you could search for 4.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Most Las Vegas hotels now charge for occupancy more than two, and if you "declare' the 3rd and 4th person in the room i would expect the hotel to charge extra... but mostly it would depend upon the mood of the clerk at check-in.What is your budget (per nite before taxes and fees) for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. VegasOrBust Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 What is your budget (per nite before taxes and fees) for this trip? It's a 4 night stay and total cost of <=$140 a night would be good, so an estimate of pretax and fees I would say 100-120 range.
AaronJB Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Are you seeing any listings within your range when you search for 4 on HOTWIRE?Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
VegasOrBust Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 I should mention this is a Fri-Tues stay so two weekend nights in there. 5/14-5/18.HOTWIRE reveals mainly 4.5-5*'s out of the price range and super cheap places without casinos. Looking for something in the middle.
thereuare Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Are you willing to accept the double/quad occupancy issue if using PRICELINE?Is splitting your stay into two separate purchases (and changing hotels) an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. VegasOrBust Posted February 25, 2010 Author Report Posted February 25, 2010 Are you willing to accept the double/quad occupancy issue if using PRICELINE?Is splitting your stay into two separate purchases (and changing hotels) an option?Sure, Sure
thereuare Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Are you committed to the North end of the strip? You could get the MGM Grand for your entire stay and not have to change rooms for $110/nite?Another option is 2 nites at the MGM Grand and 2 nites at Planet Hollywood for ~$100/nite average. As well 2 nites at the MGM Grand and then 2 nites as the Mirage for an average of $120/nite?Thoughts on any of the above? VegasOrBust Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 South strip would be good also, where is MGM available at that rate? That sounds pretty optimal, but then would there be the killer extra guest fees?Edit: Ah, the rates from the MGM website are about as you mentioned, but once you add in those extra guest it jumps by a ton. Almost enough to be looking for two rooms.
thereuare Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Are you willing to accept the double/quad occupancy issue if using PRICELINE?... once you add in those extra guest it jumps by a ton.Which is why i asked you above if you were willing to take the risk of only booking double occupancy. If you're willing to take the chance with PRICELINE. booking direct with the MGM Grand would be less of a risk since you would at least be able to select/request the bedding configuration on your reservation. Either way you would have to be discreet regarding the quad occupancy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or our MGM Grand link if you go that route.Let us know your thoughts and/or what you decide. VegasOrBust Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 Right Right, OK thanks for the help.
