thenatem Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Hi! I recently bid $71/night on Priceline for a 4* hotel in Strip North (b/c I want to avoid the Luxor in the south strip) and Priceline countered with $128/night. Last I checked that was a horrible deal right?
yellowdog Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) I wouldn't call it horrible since prices are a bit on the higher side for your stay. But i think you can do better than $128.If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the rating for the hotel.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
thenatem Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Well, I would like to stay on the Strip at a 4* hotel... (preferably one of the bigger names) Do you think I can do it for less than $100 that weekend?oh, and is it a little too early to be trying to book for memorial day? i mean, do prices usually go lower as the time nears? thanks!!!
yellowdog Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Well, I would like to stay on the Strip at a 4* hotel... (preferably one of the bigger names) Do you think I can do it for less than $100 that weekend?Yes, approx $100 might do it. You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You need to be willing to stay at any 4* or higher in the zone you're bidding at. Are you ok with that?oh, and is it a little too early to be trying to book for memorial day? i mean, do prices usually go lower as the time nears? thanks!!!There's no general answer to your question. But i don't think it's early to book for Memorial Day. thenatem Posted April 3, 2010 Author Report Posted April 3, 2010 Hi! so apparently prices have gone up since i last checked. I bid 70 for south strip (b/c i gave up paying less for north strip) and got countered with 88 on wednesday. I checked again thursday night and the counter raised to 110 for south strip!!! Well, i was disappointed but i found a deal for the Luxor on slickdeals. I ended up paying 340 for 3 nights, which is a better deal than PL (110 w/ taxes for three nights is around 383). Thanks for all the help anyway!!! good luck to all!!
