birdman Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Me and 3 other friends are going on a road trip for Spring Break. We want to spend 2 nights of the trip in DC. (March 11-13)None of us have ever been there before, and we want to do some sightseeing. Any suggestions on a plan of attack? At first we thought we were going to have to be paying around $150/night for a holiday inn in a bad part of town (tolerable when split between 4 people). But now that I've seen the deals you folks are getting with Priceline and Hotwire, I'm thinking we can stay in a really nice place. Location is important, but we don't mind walking alot or riding metro. I plan on bidding on the Georgetown, Dupont Circle, White House, and Convention Center Areas. Not sure about Arlington or Crystal City, but these don't look too far.Hotwire seems ok, but it isn't showing anything like the deals I see on this forum. I guess there was a Dupont Circle 3* room for $109/night.Any help guys?
thereuare Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy which means you could receive a room with only one bed. You can call the hotel after your purchase and rquest a room with 2 beds, but the hotel may not be able, or willing, to accomodate your request (or can charge an additional fee for quad occupancy) Is this a risk you're willing to accept? You stated that HOTWIRE didn't show any great deal... did you try searching for 4adults, which would ensure sleeping accomodations for all of you, but can also often incrase the price. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. birdman Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks for the quick replyIt wouldn't be the end of the world if we couldn't get them to give us the extra bed. We could bring sleeping bags. I just don't know how big that risk really is though. And yes, I was searching for 4 adults. Should I be searching for less?
yellowdog Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 birdmanAnd yes, I was searching for 4 adults. Should I be searching for less? You will likely get a diffrent search result if searching for a lower amount of guests. But you must be willing to take the risk with the bed situation.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
thereuare Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 And yes, I was searching for 4 adults. Should I be searching for less?I wouldn't necessarily be... but it could explain the higher rates than what you were expecting to see via HOTWIRE.I just searched HOTWIRE for 4adults and see 3* and 3.5* hotels in the Dupont Circle area for ~$115/nite... you don't consider this to be a good deal? :) What type of deal are you expecting? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
