Priceline Hotel: New York September

Hi I am totally new to this but I am looking to go back to New York on September 10th for 3 nights and was wondering if anyone could advise me on how much to bid. I want a 3 and half to 4 star hotel. Is it too early to book?help would be much appreciated thank you
