jodes732 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 I just tried bidding on Priceline for a 4* Hollywood hotel for 2 nights 3/14-3/16.I selected "Hollywood" and entered $95 --> deniedI added Lawndale and entered $100 --> deniedI added Redondo/Manhattan beaches and entered $110 --> deniedBeforehand I checked the going rates for the W and the Roosevelt and this is what I found:W3/14 $2393/15 $279Roosevelt3/14 $1493/15 $199These are the cheapest rates I found on their rates list, but it looks like some are parts of promotions. Which rate should I look at? The "best rate possible?"Hotwire lists a 4.5* Hotel for $149 each night (which hotel might this be?)It also lists a 4* hotel for $122 for 3/14 and $119 for 3/15Any clue why Priceline won't give me a hotel for $110 given I can get the Roosevelt for $149 off their own website?I'll never understand!BTW - I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.comThanks for your help! :)

jodes732 Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 Thanks!I put in: Beverly Hills - West Hollywood area Hotel, 4 Stars and upIt says there are four hotels(Note, I put in "All Stars" and it still said there are 4 hotels, so it looks like there is only 1 hotel in each bucket, 3, 3.5, 4 and 4.5)The 4.5* have these amenities:Fitness CenterGuests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Pool(s)Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.Restaurant(s)Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.Business CenterGuests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.High-speed Internet AccessGuestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. The 4* have these amenities:Fitness CenterGuests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Pool(s)Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.Restaurant(s)Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.High-speed Internet AccessGuestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. I think any of these hotels would be fine with me, but I'd really like the W. I'm going to try my luck on Priceline - still like to go cheaper than what Hotwire is offering...maybe $115?Any advice on what I should bid? I can try again in about 13 hours or so...
