I just tried bidding on Priceline for a 4* Hollywood hotel for 2 nights 3/14-3/16.

I selected "Hollywood" and entered $95 --> denied

I added Lawndale and entered $100 --> denied

I added Redondo/Manhattan beaches and entered $110 --> denied

Beforehand I checked the going rates for the W and the Roosevelt and this is what I found:

W

3/14 $239

3/15 $279

Roosevelt

3/14 $149

3/15 $199

These are the cheapest rates I found on their rates list, but it looks like some are parts of promotions. Which rate should I look at? The "best rate possible?"

Hotwire lists a 4.5* Hotel for $149 each night (which hotel might this be?)

It also lists a 4* hotel for $122 for 3/14 and $119 for 3/15

Any clue why Priceline won't give me a hotel for $110 given I can get the Roosevelt for $149 off their own website?

I'll never understand!

BTW - I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com

Thanks for your help! :)

You can only get the first nite of your stay for $149... the second nite (which you included in your bidding) is $199, correct?

If you'd like help with the HOTWIRE proprties please incldue the amenities that are associated with each.

Thanks!

I put in: Beverly Hills - West Hollywood area Hotel, 4 Stars and up

It says there are four hotels

(Note, I put in "All Stars" and it still said there are 4 hotels, so it looks like there is only 1 hotel in each bucket, 3, 3.5, 4 and 4.5)

The 4.5* have these amenities:

Fitness Center

Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.

Pool(s)

Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.

Restaurant(s)

Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.

Business Center

Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.

High-speed Internet Access

Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.

I think any of these hotels would be fine with me, but I'd really like the W.

I'm going to try my luck on Priceline - still like to go cheaper than what Hotwire is offering...maybe $115?

Any advice on what I should bid? I can try again in about 13 hours or so...

I am SUPER excited to announce that I just rebid using the PRICELINE link, and I got the W HOLLYWOOD for $119/night

Strategy:

Bid 1: Hollywood, 4* - bid $117 --> denied

Bid 2: Hollywood & Lawndale, 4* - bid $119 --> ACCEPTED!

YAY

Thanks!
