marla6 Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 I'm looking for a 3* in the Buckhead area, 2/26/10 - 2/28/10 but when I search, the only 3* that comes up lists no amenities. Any ideas why this might be? I'm not dead set on staying at a particular hotel (though I'd definitely prefer a Hyatt Place, as that seems to be the most common 3* on both the PL and HW posts), and cost is the first consideration. I can't afford to end up with a place with $20+ parking!! I'm new to both this site and the bidding sites, though I've read a gazillion posts on betterbidding (brilliant, by the way!)... Any ideas?
thereuare Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding... and thanks for the compliments on the site! :) We have not yet seen a 3* hotel in this zone reported with no amenities, so really don't have any insight or guess as to what it may be. Is this the only zone that works well for your plans this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searhes too. marla6 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 Thanks for any help. While this isn't the ONLY zone that works for me, it's the one I'd prefer (I think). It'd be my first time in Atlanta and I'm really only going as a weekend getaway... I might meet up with two friends for lunch/dinner sometime, but besides that I wasn't planning on doing much sightseeing/partying. I figured this would be one of the 'nicer' areas and safest for a 30-ish woman traveling by herself. I was hoping to maybe visit a museum or park. Guess I'm not really sure where to stay! :)
AaronJB Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 What would be your desired budget per night? That will give us a better idea of what to look for when researching.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase and searches.
marla6 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 I'm looking to spend no more than $55/night before taxes & fees, ideally. Again, I'm more interested in location than amenities, per say, though I don't necessarly have to be within X number of miles of Y location. I'll be driving from out-of-state but wasn't planning on doing much driving while in ATL (unless of course you wouldn't reccomend public transit), which is why I'd hate to have to spend ridiculous money for parking. I'd try PRICELINE (since it seems that most of the winning bids seem fairly low and @ Hyatt Place, which would be PERFECT) but I'd hate to risk ending up with another hotel, just as good, but with pricey parking..... It might come down to that though. Guess I thought I had a better shot of getting a good location/free parking location with HOTWIRE.
warsad Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 It is very difficult to find a hotel on priceline in the Midtown/Buckhead area with free parking. However, you will get a better deal on PRICELINE. Moreover, you will not be able to accurately predict the hotel via PRICELINE.

marla6 Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 I'm not seeing anything different on the Hotwire search that would help me predict/identify the hotel I might want...think I'm going to go with PL. I think I've got a pretty good grasp of the rebidding process. I'll post a winning bid on the PL side and report here just to close out the thread. Thanks all! Feel free to add if you can think of anything else.
marla6 Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Here's how it went down: Buckhead @ $30 -- not accepted add Forest Park @ $33 -- not accepted add Jonesboro @ $35 -- not accepted add Morrow @ $38 -- winning bidCourtyard Atlanta Buckhead3332 Peachtree Road NeAtlanta, GA 30326404-869-0818 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $38.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $76.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.66 (USD) Total Room Cost: $94.66 (USD) I was REEEEEEALLY hoping for the Hyatt Place, but no luck :) This one does have $18/day offsite self parking (or $21/day valet) and no free breakfast, but I figure at about $66/night with taxes/fees/parking, it's still a deal. And yes, I used the PRICELINE link :) Thanks for aaaaaall the help!!!!
