quiteyoung Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Have tried this for almost a month and a half and the price of last minute is crazy!I totally disagree that people should wait until last minute to get a deal now :)Want to stay at WH or Capitol area.already bid the following and all are rejected as of today:4* 90$3.5* 85$3* 65$the hotwire price is more than 200$ for 3.5* hotel in these areas. but it was only 100$ when I just started bidding a month ago...I don't want to spend more than 90$ for my stay and I would like to spend 20minutes max to get the monument area.Could somebody help on this? can only bid for another three days...
AaronJB Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Prices seem rather high for these dates - a convention going on in DC, maybe? I'm guessing that, if you've already bid to your max for a 4*, you may end up having to bid up towards your max for a 3* ($80, then if that doesn't work, $85). Additionally, there's a 3.5* on HOTWIRE for $99 in the Dupont-Embassy Row area, as well. Either way, I would try to get something locked in.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I"m guessing the 3.5* Dupont Cicle hotel on HOTWIRE for $99 is the Hilton Washington Towers... would that work for your plans? Given your previous rejections, and little time before your arrival, it might just be worth paying the extra $10-$15 and know you have a room for the nite.PLEASE remember to start your bidding and purchases with the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know what you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
quiteyoung Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 How long it takes from this hotel tothe monument? is there a convenient public transportation?
AaronJB Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 If the HOTWIRE listing is the Hilton Washington at 1919 Connecticut Ave, then according to google maps, the monument is 1.9M.
quiteyoung Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for providing the details. I checked on the map, it seems there is no convenient public transportation to the monument area though... walking+ metro+ walking takes about 48min?...Is there any local people could have more information?
quiteyoung Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 bit 4* up to 100$ today.3.5* to 98$.3* to 88$.all rejected.I am not brave enough to wait until really last minute.booked the through HOTWIRE.It is for the 3.5* Dupont Circle - Embassy Row at 99$.exactly as predictor. it is Hilton Washington at 1919 Connecticut Avenue N.W..Thanks a lot for the help!Of course, used PRICELINE and HOTWIRE link provided in the forum!
AaronJB Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)Glad you are satisfied with the result and were able to lock in a good last minute deal on what appears to be a busy time period.
