saagar Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Need a hotel for 1 day 2/24 to 2/25. I tried 4 bids for a 3* hotel and above, and went upto $80, but I am not getting it. Any suggestions. Is it too late or are the hotels expensive in DC. I have used Priceline successfully before in San Antonio and Austin for 70-80$ for 4* and above.8. Dupont Circle - Woodley Park
thereuare Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Rates for a 4* hotel in Austin have no correlation to rates for a 3* hotel in Washington DC.The "issue" you're having is that rates are date specific, and for this particular nite, they're high, as i'm guessing there is some sort of event taking place in DC (as there often is for political reasons or whatnot) HOTWIRE does have a 3* hotel in the Dupont Circle-Embassy Row zone for $102, which unfortunately has not yet been identified, but does show a 4.0/5.0 Tripadvisor rating which may be worth a shot for a one nite stay and not too far from your current budget. You could try bidding on PRICELINE up to $102, but then you'd be subject to any hotel in the zones you select and won't have the 'security' of knowing it's well reviewed by Tripadvisor users.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to assist further.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. saagar Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Thank you for your reply. I got tired of bidding and finally bid for 3* hotel and got accepted for $90. I got Holiday Inn at Georgetown. Hopefully it is a decent hotel. Next time I will try to bid sooner. Also, thanks to guy who wrote about the good places as 8,9,5 and 13 for DC. I used that info to bid for these places..
