FL Miami Holiday Inn Miami Airport

We stayed at this hotel near the Miami Airport for one pre-cruise night. This is a large (two towers) busy hotel with people checking in and out at all times. The front desk people seemed frazzled. Our room was an average size, with a large king size bed, a half wall partition with a desk with phone (and another phone by the bed). The hotel is older and dated, but the room was clean. It is only rated as a 2*, probably because it is dated. We ate dinner in their top floor restaurant. The food and service were only mediocre (unfortunately, the prices were not). The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so you would either need a car (parking is free) or plan on eating in the hotel.

They do provide free shuttle service to/from the airport AND the pier at the Port of Miami. The driver on duty couldn't have been nicer. We were driving ourselves to the pier, but asked him for directions. He not only drew us a map, he had us follow him, he paid our toll, and stopped at an intersection, got out of the van and showed us where OUR ship was (he was going to a different ship).

If you will only be staying one night and just need a place to sleep, this hotel is fine. If Miami/Miami Beach is your destination, you'd probably be happier in a hotel elsewhere. At our priceline bid of $35 the hotel was OK. If I had paid the website rate of $100+/- I would not have been happy.

I stayed one night on March 22. The Priceline bid was $ 60 + Tax.

I called in advance to request a non smoking room with 2 double beds.

I arrived at 11 AM and there was no problem at check in . I was informed the room was paid by Priceline.

The room was in the 2nd. tower , 5 floor.

Nice room , average size. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

The neighborhood is industrial, but is very close to the airport and the rental car returns.

There are a Burguer King and Pollo Tropical crossing a busy road.

The parking is free.

I didn't use the shuttle , the pool and the fitness room but they seem to be OK.

There is a PC with Internet in the lobby , free for guests. It was useful to ckeck emails.

The staff was very curteous and friendly. They let me stay till 2 PM at check out.

Overall , my experience was pleasant.
