thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Not sure exactly which zone within Reno you're considering, but you can see which hotels have been reported to the board in this area our Priceline Hotel List. Even if all the reported hotels in the zone have a casino, the lists are not finite and are every chaning (new hotels are added/removed all the time, as well, hotels are often upgraded/downgraded) so there would be no guarnatee of receiving a hotel with a casino. If you must have a hotel with a casino, HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can then choose a hotel which displays the Casino icon.Once you're ready to move forward let us know the details of your trip (dates, zones, desired star rating, maximum budget, etc) and we'll advise further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. derringer007
I have never booked via HW, as i have always booked directly from the hotel, just need some reassurance that if i book now my room will be there when i arrive in Reno in early May before i commitNo If's and's or but's about it Thanks :) ~~ Drive It Like You Stole It ~~ Link to comment
thereuare
There shouldn't be any problem, but nobody can make a guarnatee/promise above to you... just like airlines, hotels sometimes overbook and as is standard industry practice, you could get 'walked' to a different property. I would put the chances of this at very low, similar to how you could have a ticket on an airplane and when you arrive at the gate are told they just don't have a seat for you. Is shouldn't happen, i would say it won't likely happen, but i don't think anyone here can or should guarantee you anything which is out of our control :)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. derringer007
If i pre-pay via my credit card and get a conformation then the room is mine not to be over booked. Sent you a PM Thanks for your honest response :) ~~ Drive It Like You Stole It ~~ Link to comment
thereuare
Read thru the thousands and thousandsd of wins/experiences reported to the board... how many have showed up and there was no room for them? I'd venture a guess that it's less than .0001%... but you may be that 1 in 10,000 that has a problem (or whatever the really small number is). The industry term for overbooking is "getting walked" and since a term exists for it, it does happen, but it happens on hotel direct and non-opaque reservations too. However, it happens so infrequently that it's not really a legitimate concern imo (nor is it anything you have control over regardless of how you booked), so i really wouldn't spend time worrying about it unless you're traveling during a time when you expect all hotels in the area to be sold-out due to some large event, and even then it would simply be in the back of my mind and not something i'm worrying about, as 99.999% of the time there is no problem. derringer007
Hypothetically if "Getting Walked" happens then what is the hotel going to do to fix the problem put me in a broom closet LOL Im planning on checking in Friday May 7th and leaving on Monday the 9th, i'm going to call one of the hotels at random and see how big the "Reno River Festival" is as its going on at the time i'm wanting to go. I will be in touch on what i decide to do You have been a big help i do appreciate it ~~ Drive It Like You Stole It ~~ Link to comment
thereuare
The term is "walked" as usually they will provide transportation to a comparable hotel for the nite... but take for instance being in town during the Super Bowl where all hotels in the immediate area are sold-out, then the comparable hotel may not be as nearby as you had hoped. Again, chances are very low that you'll ever be walked, but you asked for a "no ifs ands or buts" guarantee, and nobody can give you that (not even a direct purchase with the hotel) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
