I had hoped for the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa, as I saw many people had gotten it on a variety of dates in April for $74-$90 a night. I had a $10 bonus bucks per night deal through my Entertainment Book so I started my bidding at $64.00 ($74 total with bonus) hoping to get the Westin Diplomat. No dice. Next I used a free re-bid and did $74.00 ($84 total with bonus) and still no dice. I then used another free re-bid and increased to $80 ($90 total with bonus) and it took. I went into this totally knowing it could be the Crowne Plaza so I prepared myself and it is a good thing I did. Regular cheapest rate online is $238/nt so this is an excellent savings of $158/nt.

Also seems I could have gotten Westin Diplomat through Hotwire for $94/nt with an Entertainment Book rebate I had. Kinda wishing now I had done that for just $14 more a night but...oh well! I'm going to make myself feel better by looking at all the pros of the Crowne Plaza vs. Westin Diplomat:

It probably has cheaper parking than the Westin

I can get Restaurant.com gift certificates for the poolside Lava Tiki Hut bar & Grill

There is a fridge and microwave in room so we'll pry save some money having bfast in our room a couple of mornings as well as snacks/beverages

Smaller and easier to navigate

Free internet

So that said, it will probably turn out to be much more than $14 savings per night over the Westin. We're a couple of guys in our 20s though so we're hoping there aren't just tons of little kids running around the hotel and pool. Seems there is also not a ton to do in the immediate area, which we knew going in, but will give us easy access for when we want to hit up Fort Lauderdale nightlife/restaurants or SoutH Beach nightlife restaurants. We didn't really know where we would end up spending more time so this is a great location for quick, easy access to everything.

So, overall I am very pleased to be staying at a 4-star property for $80/nt. 4 nights with tax came out to $374.20. Now let's just hope this Crowne Plaza is FAR FAR nicer than the Crowne Plaza Redondo/Manhattan Beach we also get stuck with when we visit LA. Maybe we are just doomed to Crowne Plaza lol!

Congratulations on your success. :)

Looks like a sweet deal for this Crowne Plaza property, and glad to hear that it will work out well for your plans. Terrific deal that Restaurant.com GC's can work with the hotel restaurant, as well!
