hey to everyone..we're a greek couple in our late 20s coming to NYC this summer from 2nd August to 7th for 5 nights.

We're looking for a 3,5 or 4 star hotel in central manhattan. We were thinking of MTW, MTE, TS, maybe MSG, ESB. As we're new to the bidding-sites likes PL or HW if the prices indicated on both sites are final?do they include taxes, local fees etc.? Actually, can we even bid and book as we dont have an american visa or billing adress (does the CA 99999 trick still work?)?

Concerning our budget we dont wont to spend more than 135$ per night incl. taxes and everything for a 4 star, less for a 3,5 star. Is it possible?

On hotwire there is a 3,5 star MC for 129$?what do u think?

We thought on starting to bid first 110$ on pricewire for MTW, MTE, TS and then add MSG +5$ if rejected and finally add ESB +5 $ if rejected again. So the maximum bid would be 120 because we have to add the taxes and fees right?

What do u think?Any advises?

thx in advance

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Please see this Non-US Priceline thread. There should not be a problem booking through HOTWIRE.

The prices on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are final and do include taxes. They do not include any additional optional services (such as internet/parking)

What are the amenity icons showing with the 3.5* MTC on HOTWIRE?

A 4* for around $110 (bid before taxes) is probably unlikely, although you could certainly try. With a $135 max, your max bid would be about $105-107 - for a $110 bid, the total after tax is about $139.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

the 3,5* in MTC on HOTWIRE is a boutique hotel, with a business center and High-Speed internet access. Any idea which one this is?

But dont i have to add to the 129 the taxes ? in that way the total would be around 150 right?

we will probably start bidding at 100 and will go up until 115 on priceline and let u know.

Taxes would be added to the $129/nite rate above... if you re-search this offering on HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering, on the next page you'll see (on the left hand side) what the total would be including taxes and fees. As well, keep in mind that taxes/fees would be added to any PRICELINE bid you make (and similarly to HOTWIRE, on the 'review page' you'll be able to see what the total would be, including fees/taxes, should your bid be accepted)

The HOTWIRE hotel above matches previous reports for the Mansfield Hotel so that would be my best guess for that one.

If you choose to move forward with PRICELINE and you'd like a bidding strategy to follow, let us know which zone(s). Also note that at the 3.5* level on PRICELINE, the Millenium UN comes into play in the MTE zone... while a very nice hotel, it is a bit too far east for some (as it's about a 15 minute walk to the subway), so if this is not acceptable then you shouldn't include this zone in your bidding.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
