Priceline Hotel: Chicago - 2/26/10-2/28/10

I am sort of a newbie. I'd like to be able to snag the same deal (Blackstone Rennaisance) as SHMichelson has for the same weekend. Reflecting SHMichelson's success I tried to replicate....$57.00 for 4 star. No luck, two days later (today) I tried same thing at $60.00. Still no luck. Then, I noticed your comment about it being 3.5* with an upgrade. Do you think I'd get the same deal if I exactly replicated SHMIchelson's move...3.5* @ $57.00?

I have a second question. We are going to Chicago the weekend of 2/26 with our teenaged daughters. They want to stay at cousin's house on Friday night and at hotel on Saturday night. My wife and I would stay at hotel both nights. Is there a way to bid for first night only one room and second night with two rooms? My fear is that if we succeed with one room on Friday night and then do a second bid for 2 rooms on Saturday night we may end up at a different hotel on Saturday night and that wouldn't be good. But I couldn't figure out how to set it up on Priceline bid. Any comments?

There's no way to guarantee a particular property via PRICELINE; while another user may have gotten the Blackstone, there's no way to know what Priceline's inventory currently is. If you tried to bid 3.5*, there's a definite chance that you may get a 3.5* - again, there's no way to know with PRICELINE. If $60 was not accepted, you could try again at $65 for a 4*, but again, you could get a different Loop property. Unfortunately, if you were to bid for one room one night and bid for two rooms the second night, there is a chance you could wind up in a different property.

Would you be interested in staying in a different property than the Blackstone? Do you have to be in the Loop area, or would you consider a Mag Mile location? What would be your desired budget per night, and is there a particular style of hotel you would like?

Thanks Yellowdog. As a follow up I never did book that hotel room. Ultimately, we stayed at friend's condominium in the south loop.
