Once you're ready to strech your budget, the above may not be the hotel offered by HOTWIRE, or the price may increase no longer making it a viable option.

In the meantime, what is your gameplan... are you just monitoring HOTWIRE for something to appear with a lower price? Are there any PRICELINE zone(s) where you're able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone?

I am looking for a Raliegh, Shore Club, Delano, Lowes, ETC esque hotel on Collins Beach Front. I am new to all this. If I submit a bid on PriceLine for $100 a night what happens next? Seems Hotwire is same expect there is no bidding just taking a leap. If I have no choice I will just take Hotwire.

With PRICELINE you offer a price for any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) you select... if that offer is accepted you then own the hotel room for those nite(s) and you're told the name of the hotel. Other than being within the confines of the zone(s) you select, there is no way to target a specific area or property, and you ahve to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone.

With HOTWIRE they will show you the zone boundaries, amenities that the hotel offers, and the price... if you accept one of their offerings you pay for it and then are told the name of the hotel.

PRICELINE usually cost a little less than HOTWIRE, but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to take a guess as to the hotel you're being offered, based upon the amenities associated with the hotel.
