Congratulations on your success!

Thank you for sharing your result with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to book this :)

I wanted to add this is my first time using hotwire for a hotel and I am shocked that this hotel advertises for almost $300 a night.

Yes, HOTWIRE is fantastic :)

Have a nice stay.

Just received this email from Hotwire.

Dear xxxxxxx,

We are contacting you about your upcoming stay at The Westin Diplomat Resort And Spa, Hotwire itinerary xxxxxxxxxx. We regret that the hotel is not able to offer the Near Beach that was listed on our site.

We do periodically review our hotel partners' amenities to show the most accurate and up-to-date information, and we recently changed our site to reflect the current offerings of The Westin Diplomat Resort And Spa.

As such, we would like to offer you the option of either cancelling the reservation for a full refund along with $50.00 HotDollars, or keeping the reservation and receiving 50% of your entire stay in HotDollars. HotDollars can be used for any hotel, flight, or Hotwire hot Rate rental car booking on Hotwire. Each HotDollar is equivalent to one U.S. dollar and is available for one year from the date of issuance. Should you choose to cancel, we would be happy to assist you in rebooking to be certain that you are accommodated during your trip.

Please let us know your decision by responding to this email or by calling 1-866-HOTWIRE (468-9473).

Our customers are important to us, and we hope to have a chance to better serve your needs in the near future.

If you have already contacted Hotwire Customer Care regarding your reservation, please disregard this message.

Sincerely,

Hotwire Customer Care

So I just called the resort and spoke with the reservation dept and was told they are no longer affiliated with the resort on the golf course, she said they are now only 1 resort the one which is on the beach. She could not tell me what room I have but assured me it is at the Westin Diplomat on the beach. I only paid $73 a night so I guess I will be taking the 50% credit for my entire stay making it $37 a night......wow!!

************UPDATE********

I called Hotwire and was told by them that the Westin Diplomat is doing construction and the beach in front of the resort is closed so they are putting people other places. Not sure what to believe so I called the resort for a second time and got another person on the phone who in fact told me my reservation is for a room at the Golf Course NOT on the beach. So now I have to decide if I want to stay off the beach and take the Hotwire bucks of $164.14 (50% my total stay) or totally cancel and take the $50 hot bucks credit.

Anyone who has booked this resort I suggest you call the Westin and find out where your reservation is. Will follow up when I decide what to do. Thanks again to everyone on this board.

On the phone with Hotwire again as I type, on hold right now but I called to make an inquiry on how I have a confirmation for 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood,FL,33019 (954) 602-6000 and the Westin has told me my resv is for the Golf Course resort which is not in Hollywood but technically Hallendale Beach. My issue is how can my resv say Hollywood Beach, and Westin is telling my room is in the next city over.

Hotwire rep just came back on the phone and asked if I can hold further they are getting the resort itself on the line.

Alex (Hotwire Rep) came back and told me they spoke with a Regin (Westin) at reservations and I have now been moved to the Hollywood Beach location, not the Hallendale location. Explanation was they are now 1 resort Westin Diplomat and Diplomat Country Club Resort and the reason Hotwire is sending notices is because most likely your room was moved to the Diplomat Country Club (Hallendale) I am still eligible for the 50% hot bucks if I keep it but I am going to wait till tomorrow and call the Westin back to make sure my resv was in fact changed to the beach location.

Glad, it appears, you have worked this out, but note that the hotel only has to be in HOTWIRE's shaded boundaries of the zone, which both of these properties are located in. I do think you have an argument given the confirmation of your purchase shows the address and you shouldn't be switched to a different property, and that is the angle i would take, although it does sound as if this is (fortunately) all taken care of at this point. :)

Final Update:

Just called the Westin when I got home from work to make sure what Hotwire said ws true and I was told my reservation is for a resort view room which is at the Hollywood Beach location so I am very happy right now. For anyone else out there with this booking issue for this resort I would suggest calling Hotwire and use the argument about the location address and Hotwire was very accomodating. I'm very satisfied with all involved. Thanks again.

This sucks.......

I don't think anyone is really going to be sure where we all are staying into our heads hit the pillow the day we arrive for our stays.....Up to now it's all just phone calls that mean just about nothing until the day you show up there and they say sorry we are completely full.......but we have a room for you at the country club if you want it? It's only a 5-minute shuttle ride away.......................

Jimbo,

I definitely agree this could most likely happen and then there will be no choice but to take it, but hey for the $37 a night I ended up paying after the Hotwire bucks credit I will take it, now I can use that credit for Vegas.

I stayed there in December 2009 and I have no idea how they're saying the "near beach" doesn't apply - it is literally out the door down the stairs and you're on the beach! But due to construction - walk out the front door hang a left and walk up to where the 7-11 and the intersection is then go left - takes you right to the beach about 1/4 mile up the road. (still pretty 'near beach' IMO)

Bottom line - keep the hotel... it's AMAZING and take whatever $$ they're offering lol

Just to update the board on my 4/8-4/12 reservation - I called Hotwire and the lady was pretty useless.

She kept saying "if they no longer offer near beach we are obligated to tell you that".

I said "the hotel is literally on the shore. It is geographically impossible that they no longer offer "near beach."

I explained that I think the hotel merged with the golf resort which is inland and that they are trying to dump the Hotwire people over there because it is not as nice of a hotel and does not have the direct beach access. She said to call the hotel and ask them where they have me if that is the case.

So I did.

The hotel did confirm that my reservation was for the "golf and spa resort" and not the "beach resort." (BTW she said the hotel never moved me - hotwire did. They were booking people into the golf resort hence why they are offering the hot bucks refunds and not westin) I explained my tale of woe and she ended up changing me to the "beach resort" but advised me that I would not have an oceanfront room - I would have a cityview room. If I would like, I can upgrade my room to an oceanfront with a balcony for $40 per night additional. Since the hotel isn't that booked right now, I told her i would hold off and call them back if I wanted to do so.

MOST IMPORTANTLY - she gave me an in house confirmation number for my reservation at the "beach resort" and told me that I should not worry about being moved over to the golf resort - my confirmation number indicates that I have a confirmed "beach resort" room.

She also confirmed that there is no construction happening on or near the beach, so not to worry about that.

My first experience with Hotwire. Just as I feared - I got a little "Second class citizen" treatment. Sometimes things are just too good to be true I guess.

Glad to hear another positive outcome, sounds like if you can get the right person on the phone this can easily be fixed for anyone who is not sure where there room will be. My first time using Hotwire as well so I was very concerned and a few phone calls seemed to have fixed the issue, my hotel confirmation number also reflects the beach resort but nothing was mentioned about the view. For now that's not a big deal and most likely will try for a free upgrade upon check in or see how much the difference in price is then. Have a great trip!

Hello everyone, I just wanted to follow up with our stay and experience at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, FL. Our room in fact was at the beach resort, upon check in the hotel was very crowded since it was a weekend, we asked for an upgrade and even offered to pay extra for it but we were given a room with 2 beds (no balcony) since the hotel was pretty full, which was fine with us. The hotel was nice enough to move us to a room with a king size bed (no balcony) for the last 2 nights for no extra charge. The hotel itself is very nice, def agree with the 4 star, service was excellent and the pool/beach area is very nice. We definitely would stay here again. So with the Hotwire credit for the mix up between the beach resort and golf resort we ended up paying $37 a night.
