jkrivere Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 ok, I've been following this for a while, but still need help exactly how to try to get a winning bid.I'm trying to win a bid in NYC for the dates of 4/4/10-4/11/10. I want to keep my bid $110 or below (not including taxes/fees). I would be willing to stay 5*-3.5*, the higher the better, but considering my budget, I understand the lower is probably the more likely. I wouldn't mind staying in TS, MTW, MTE (with the exception of the Millenium UN, 3.5* I think), or CPS, preferable in the order listed. Can you please tell me what rebid zones I should add and in what order, too?Ok, I think I covered everythingThanks!
thereuare Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! You need to know how to determine your re-bid zones yourself since they need to be checked before every bidding cycle to make sure you don't end up in a zone you didn't intend, as hotels are added/removed/upgraded/downgraded all the time. Please see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions you have, or if you're confused from the start, just post back and we'll break it down further for you. (HINT: at the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones avaialble, at the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones available... feel free to confirm them with the board to make sure you have it right)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! jkrivere Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 Ok, that helped alot, the problem I was having with the rebid zones was that on the "name your price" part the areas were named different than the regular search names (ex. for the search they combine midtown west and times square together)so now I know my rebid zones, can you tell me how to start bidding (what areas first for what price), etc.
thereuare Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I wouldn't mind staying in TS, MTW, MTE (with the exception of the Millenium UN, 3.5* I think), or CPS, preferable in the order listed. What is more important... price or zone? For example, would you prefer to pay more for a hotel in the MTW zone vs. a lesser priced hotel in the MTE zone?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jkrivere Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 zone is more important, i would want to spend more for the hotel in TS than the one in MTE
thereuare Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* TS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS and re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* CPS...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* CPS and re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask. Note that since there was a 3.5* hotel in the MTE zone you wanted to avoid we didn't have you bid MTE at the 3.5* level. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. jkrivere Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 ok, i tried every single one of them, and even included MSG and went up to $118...should i just wait a while and try again??
thereuare Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in the MTC zone for $129/nite with Restuarant, Fitness, Internet... while these amenities are common for a hotel of this star rating in NYC, this does match previous reports for the Club Quarters Midtown so that would be my best guess for this one. Would this work for your plans? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jkrivere Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 that would work, but I think I'm going to wait a week or two to see if I can get a better deal...Thanks for all the help and I will def. let you know what happens when I try again
