Hotwire Hotel: Stars rating on Expeida

Hi Everybody,

Hotwire can give you good deals, but it can also bring bad surprises, as it did for me. I made a phonecall to them and asked them if the Hotwire and Expedia stars rating system matches. The answer was a clear yes. I was happy to hear that and hung up the phone (big mistake not to ask the person's name!).

I checked on Expedia which Hotels were 4.5* in the neighborhood and saw that the only one was the New York Palace. For 200$ a night that's clearly a good deal, so I made my booking only to discover that the hotel is in fact the Benjamin ... On Expedia it is rated 4* (not 4.5) and to be honest, it looks more like a 3.5* hotel. So big disappointment.

So this is to give you a word of caution.

Happy bookings.
