andrew_glasgow Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Looking to book with priceline for one night at Vancouver Airport. Cheapest I can find on hotwire is $89 including all fees and taxes so looking to spend about $70 on a room including fees and taxes if possible, does this mean I should bid up to approx $58? What is the likelihood of securing a decent room for this price? Not too bothered about star quality, perhaps 3* and up because it's only for 1 night (I presume I'll be given a room in Richmond though if successful). Thanks
thereuare Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 A $54 bid in the Vancouver Airport zone would come to about $70 all-in, is this what you want to use for your maximum bid for a 3* hotel? What is the room rate (before fees and taxes) and star rating of the HOTWIRE property you're refering to?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. andrew_glasgow Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 The room rate on hotwire of the 2.5* hotel I'm referring to is $74 before taxes and fees, am I aiming too low then with my $54?I would actually accept a 2.5* hotel as it is only for one night so I'm not too bothered (wouldn't be checking in till late on and getting up very eary). Thanks,Andrew
thereuare Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Sorry, misread the first post in terms of all-in pricing. When bidding for a 3* hotel in the Airport zone you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3* Airport.Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $45, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Airport.Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $55With time on your side i would try the above, as it stars low near some previoulsy accepted lowball amounts, and systematically works higher. If the above is rejected we can revise to try again in 24 hours if you want to raise your maximum bid. Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. andrew_glasgow Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 Thanks for the replies theraure, no luck up to $55 though. For $65 (excluding fees and taxes) the 2.5* hotel is now available on hotwire, bringing it in at $82 in total. This offer shuttle, complimentary breakfast, fitness centre, restaurant and business centre. Any ideas what it could be? There are no review recommendations and nothing from tripadvisor either. Thanks again,Andrew
thereuare Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 The 2.5* has not yet been reported to the board, but if i were to take a guess the Best Western Abercorn Inn Richmond seems like a good fit and would be among the possibilities. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
