I'm looking for a room for the week of 2/26/05 - 3/05/05.

I've been unsucessful so far bidding on the resort area of Priceline.

1st bid was $60, 2nd Bid $65. 3rd $70.

All were turned down.

Am I bidding too far in advance?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates are currently a bit higher than when we usually see bids in the $60's being accepted.

Not sure if you'd like to raise you maximum bid, lower your star rating, or simply wait it out for a bit. If you do choose to wait i'd recommend making a cancellable back-up in the meantime.

Let us know what you decide to do and how we can help further.

HI -

I changed my bid to 3* and Universal area. Bid $43, turned down. Changed to $45 and added Disney aream and turned down. Added Kissemee and increased to $47 and was turned down.

My dates are 2/26-3/5.

Am I bidding too far in advance? I see others having success but with less days at teh hotels.

I can't change my Saturday arrival, so I hope that isn't the problem.

Should I start with a higher price next time?

Thanks,

I see others having success ....

Again, rates for your dates are somewhat higher than usual. You can't just look at somebody else's winning bid and assume that those rates will necessarily be available for you as well... especially when those dates are different than yours.

Why don't you post your maximum bid and desired star rating and we'll suggest a strategy to follow and/or your best alternatives.

Have you did the Universal zone in your prior bids or is this a new zone that you're willing to accept?

Yes, I did the Universal zone the 2nd set of bids. And, yes I am willing to accept this area now.

Thank you.

There is a very large convention in town that week - PITTCON I believe - The Convention Center Website says 23000 attendees.

Wow, that is not good news. I wanted to avoid crowds that is why I booked late Feb - early March. Now, I'm wondering if I should change my plans to the following week?
