ptibbits Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Am looking for a hotel room in New Orleans for just one night (2/5), and have gotten 2 deals that seem good from Hotwire.French Quarter3.5 stars, $52Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Dining, Laundry, High-Speed InternetDowntown4 stars, $68Amenities: Smoke-Free, Fitness Center, Pool, Dining, Business Center, High-Speed InternetFrom other posts I've read I am guessing the downtown one is the Sheraton, but it seems much cheaper than what others have gotten. Thanks for any help you can provide!
ptibbits Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 Very, very sorry for the double-post. I didn't clearly state that I was looking for help identifying 2 hotels, so I just wanted to clarify on the post topic. AaronJB Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 The 3.5* FQ would appear to be a match for the Crowne Plaza. My guess for the 4* downtown would be the Sheraton. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ptibbits Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 I went back today to get a hotel room for tonight, and instead of a 3.5 star hotel in the FQ, it was offering a 3-star in the FQ (also for $52). Thanks very much for your assistance on the earlier request -- this hotel (with the same amenities listed as the initial 3.5-star offer) was the Holiday Inn on Royal Street. Will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.
AaronJB Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Congratulations on your success! :)Hope you are pleased with the HI and that the location works well for your travel plans.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
ptibbits Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 sorry i didn't have a chance to report back earlier.the holiday inn was fine; nothing great, but definitely passable. it seemed old and dated, and could use some touching up in most places.the exercise room was the worst part, which consisted of 1 treadmill and 1 recumbent bicycle in a very skinny rectangular room. there is an indoor pool, but we didn't use it. and, since it is just off of bourbon street, the common areas are quite loud.the next nights we stayed at the hilton garden inn warehouse district/convention center (not through hotwire). a bit far out, but loved this place. very spacious rooms and common areas, good exercise facility, and friendly staff. the hot breakfast was good for a mass buffet meal.
