cmarsh Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I need a bidding strategy please! We are looking to stay in Midtown West (MTW) or Times Square (TS).Our dates are May 30 - June 4 2010. We'd prefer a 4* but will consider bidding 3.5*.From looking at the current prices for those dates, we'd like to go with a maximum bid price of $175 for a 4* and max bid of $150 for 3.5*.Let me know if this is "doable" and if you have any other advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW and TS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. If the above is rejected, i do think you have a better chance at landing a 4* hotel if you include the MTE zone... is there a reason you're not including this zone in your bidding, and would you want to re-try for a 4* including the MTE zone or lower your star rating to the 3.5* level for just the MTW and TS zones?Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
cmarsh Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 Thanks! I will try this strategy out. We're just not that interested in staying in MTE as we prefer MTW and TS much more. We would consider lowering the star rating to 3.5*, though, for MTW and TS.
cmarsh Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 I just bid as stated above and was rejected on all accounts. Oh well! Will do it again next week! Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Do you want to try again at the 4* level next week or did you want to try bidding for a 3.5* now?I assume you're somewhat familiar with NYC?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cmarsh Posted February 6, 2010 Author Report Posted February 6, 2010 Yeah I think I'll go ahead and try for 3.5* places in MTW and TS. For a 3.5*, I'd like my max bid to be $150. What is my strategy in this circumstance? Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTW and TS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.I agree with your first two guess, but best guess for the 4* in the MTE zone would be the Inter-Continental Barclay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too!Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. cmarsh Posted April 11, 2010 Author Report Posted April 11, 2010 Just booked the $139 in MTC and it was indeed the Holiday Inn Express - Fifth Avenue. I think I got a pretty good deal since this hotel is going for $199 on other sites. Thanks for all your help!
AaronJB Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)This is an excellent deal for this property, and free breakfast is also offered. Certainly a very nice location to explore the city from, as well.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's HOTWIRE link.Enjoy your stay.
