300rwhp Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Hello, First off using information garnered from this site I have successfully gotten hotels in Portland and Florence. Of course I used the PRICELINE link. Using info regarding successful bids and plans people have suggested on this site I have been trying to get a 5* in London for May 20-23. I started at $130 and am now up to $155. Without success. This booking is for my aunt and her partner, they have not stayed in london so I think something nice would be great for them particularly a nice location. The JW Marriot that people have been successful with would be perfect but I am not getting any luck. Can you suggest a plan of attack or some tips. I have been doing the rebidding with other zones. Alternatively what about 4* in a similar location to the JW Marriot in Mayfair. Thanks for your help and input.
MadFlyer Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I would try just a little higher. It seems to be either coming in at $130s range or in the $160s. Using my system I would guess a win at $164-166 or so. Option is to wait until closer in. Remember that while many get the JW, the Marriott Park Lane, Hilton and Intercontinental Park Lane can all be possibilities. Good Luck.
300rwhp Posted February 3, 2010 Author Report Posted February 3, 2010 is there anything wrong with the hotels you mention?

300rwhp Posted February 3, 2010 Author Report Posted February 3, 2010 Does " we are working on your request" page signify anything? Sometimes I get it sometimes I do not. It always says wait about 15 mins and then click a button titled "check my request status"
thereuare Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 No, that message is insignificant. That's the "old" system... my theory is that if their system is backlogged and proccessing lots of requests, or if there is an electronic communication delay during the process, the old system kicks in order to give them more time to process your bid request. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 You might look at a couple hotel rack rates, for your dates and for the dates when others were successful in the $130 and $160 ranges. I'd guess you will see similarly high rack rates for your dates and the $160 other wins, whereas the rack rates will be lower for the $130 wins. Hope something works for you pretty soon. I've spent a lot of time aiding and abetting my elderly aunts. It is time I'll never regret having spent.Romelle
