Vivabebe Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 I have been trying to get the Venetian for a few weeks and have my backup atParis for $119 from their Website. (which I will cancel now)Today, on Venetian's web page, price: $169. I bid $100 first, then kept rebidding until I won at $120. I am very happy. I did have one more bidding opportunity beforeI leave, but went ahead and booked it. Who knows, they could runout of rooms, right? :) I did get a counter offer three days ago for $150 for a 5* and turned it down.Today, when I bid $100, Priceline countered at $130. I then got it for $120. Book your back up, then keep good records of when you bid. Venetian must release their rooms a week out or so. Happy Bidding!!
thereuare Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Congratulations on your win... nice to see your persistence paid off for you. A step up in quality and a bit less expensvie.... what more could anyone want? :) What was the amount of your bid immediately before being accepted at $120 (it sounds as if you made additional bids between $100 and $120).Also, just as you posted this win, please do the same for your win that you mentioned at the JW MARRIOTT.Thanks for posting and enjoy your stay!PS- rates are back up to $209! (an example of just how quickly rates can move in the Vegas market... it's like none other) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Vivabebe Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 I always bid in $5 increments...easy to remember....So, for the Venetian, my last bid was $115. Then wonwith $120. I did notice that prices on their own websitewent up the next day. weird. My JW Marriott, I bid for it on Jan. 2 for Jan. 27-30. Started with 4* Strip, and added Zones that didn't have4*'s in $5 increments. When I added NW Vegas, won it at $100. JW website listed the price at $249. :) Good Deal, huh?
Jule Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 If this represents a pattern - JW website listing 249 (1/27) and 229 (1/28) and releasing rooms to Priceline only 4 weeks prior - there is hope for my 4/13 -15 stay!100 sounds like a great deal - but there might be a slight chance getting JW for leven less: Starting with a resort bid in NW Las and adding non-resorts zones should be a safe way of bidding
Vivabebe Posted January 21, 2005 Author Report Posted January 21, 2005 Good luck! I will post a review when I get back after Jan. 30th. :)
