MET Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Hi,I am looking for a hotel for my wedding night in NYC, 4*, on April 2nd, 2010. I would particularly like it to be in the Soho-Downtown area where the wedding will be, but I can travel around Manhattan if I need to. I don't want to go for anything lower star since it's my wedding night. Also, how flexible will the hotel be about changing say queen bed to king bed if necessary? Thanks so much!!
AaronJB Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding and Congrats On Your Wedding! :)What would your budget be for hotel for the night? Bedding is not guaranteed via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE; many hotels - even upscale properties - have small rooms in NYC. Some hotels may have a limited amount of king bed rooms and some may not have any. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MET Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 I am hoping to spend less than $200, though of course the lower the better :-). What is your suggestion on how I should start! Thanks so much!
AaronJB Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Given that this is your wedding night, I'd suggest maybe trying for something more "known" and that may be a bit of a better fit for the occasion. The Hotel On Rivington is a 4* in the Lower East Side, which has a $199 promotional rate for these dates. The rooms do have balconies - given that you would be booking full price, you may (especially given the occasion) have some leverage if asking for a better view. Property does get good reviews.HOTWIRE also has a 4* w/fitness, business, restaurant and internet for $159 in the downtown/soho area for this date. This could be the Soho Grand or Gild Hall, but I'm guessing Gild Hall is more likely. You could try PRICELINE, but then you would have to be more flexible on where you end up.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
MET Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 Thank you so much for the advice! That's exactly what I was afraid of - I want to save money with priceline - wedding is expensive enough as is :-). But the thought of ending up somewhere unknown kind of scares me.... I may just listen to you and book the Rivington to be sure. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Happy to help! :) Let us know what you decide and please do let us know if you have any other questions. Again, congrats on your wedding! :)
thereuare Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 The 4* Downtown HOTWIRE hotel also shows a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5.0 which would make this a likely match for the Gild Hall. Even if not this hotel, i don't think you can go too wrong given the tripadvisor rating, but ultimately it's up to you and what you're comfortable with. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help (and good luck with the final details fo the wedding) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
